njr911 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I found a thread on here with a very simple and straight forward set up guide with cleve tips about measuring action height with allen keys. I should have bookmarked it but didn't anyone know the one I mean ? I need to do some work on my bass as it plays a bit like a dog Quote
PlungerModerno Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Did a quick search for "setup guide" and came up with this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/257340-fretbuzz-help-required/page__st__30__p__2733571__hl__setup%20guide__fromsearch__1#entry2733571 see post #11 by Twincam for the guide (or the quoted version above). njr911 Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Cheers that's tonight sorted. I have a feeling the neck needs shimming though Quote

If it needs shimming - it needs shimming. . . a quick check I like to see is if the saddles, when adjusted all the way to the deck, are putting the strings lying on the frets or very nearly. Quote
And they were, no shim required cheers! Really useful tip. Took it all back and then started again, now set up as per the setting in the thread above and it's playing really well. I think my issue is switching between a flat strung Jazz and rounds on a P Quote
