Saw this very bass today: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hayman-40-40-bass-guitar-rare-not-many-of-these-about-/121673862391?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c5453ccf7 whilst browsing for obscure vinyl in a secondhand shop in Ammanford - have to say it's rather tasty......
I know nothing about these other that they're the precursors to Shergold (which in turn passed on a few genes to Wal basses)
Apparently missing transparent plastic covers on the pickups. Seems a tad pricey to me, but if I can assist in haggling / picking up for anyone interested let me know

Yes, I saw that too... I have one http://basschat.co.u...40-tree-update/

They are fantastic hand-made British vintage basses with tone to die for and really amazing necks. Loads of character and bags of retro chic. However, £1200 is WAY over the top, even for one in mint condition, and this one is not in mint condition... :)

Very unusual indeed to ever see them with their perspex ashtrays. They tended to go AWOL pretty quick.

You can see the Wal outline in that!

Yes, and in the Shergold Marathon Bass too. Both are precursor to the Wal Pro Mk1 basses.

I put one together from parts when Hayman went bust - there was also a fire at the Fender Soundhouse and loads of Hayman parts got sold off. Sadly I didn't manage to get all the bits for a twin-neck but I did get the bits for a 40/40. I think I made a mistake PXing it for a Precision.

I have some dodgy blurry photos from somewhere in the early 80s. I'll scan them in some time.

In fact, haven't I asked the very same question and got the very same answer before, or did I dream it? :D
Either way, it would be nice to see the pics...

Quite possibly, I'm a great prevaricator.
