Lord Sausage Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) As the title says! Check it out! Don't expect symphonies or breakbeats though! ambient Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Black holes are the bassists of the universe, 57 octaves lower than a middle C - http://science1.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2003/09sep_blackholesounds/ Quote
discreet Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Presumably you couldn't hear it, not just because it's way below the audible frequency for humans, but because as space is a vacuum, there is no medium for the sound to travel through..? Quote
ambient Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 This is interesting http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art29542.asp Quote
Lord Sausage Posted June 18, 2015 Author Posted June 18, 2015 (edited)
Presumably you couldn't hear it, not just because it's way below the audible frequency for humans, but because as space is a vacuum, there is no medium for the sound to travel through..?
In the link I posted it mentions how sound travels as electromagnetic vibrations, so you need special equipment to listen to it. But yeah also cos it's below our frequencies of hearing. Although my wife's voice is lower than that when she wakes up some mornings. Ha ha. I'm dead if she reads this! Edited June 18, 2015 by Lord Sausage Quote
ambient Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I shared this on Facebook a couple of months ago, really interesting - http://www.radio-astronomy.net Quote

pfretrock Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 There are also very low frequency radio waves produced in the earth's atmosphere. Mostly they are random static noise but sometimes 'whistlers' can be heard. There are a few dead links in the page below - the third link in the 'Sample Sounds' section has some nice whistlers. http://www.spaceweat...ry/inspire.html NASA did not mention Pluto - I reckon it has got a dead spot, must be a bolt-on planet. Quote
