Found an interesting 'finish' quirk on my jazz bass

my dads S1 USA jazz had that routing, so yours is probs an american.

Indeed, I reckon it has something to do with the S1, I wonder if the new USA jazzes without S1 have normal routing!

I think is just a shape nothing related with MIM, MIA, or something else....is just an industrial shape.

This is a 2008 model bought new from a shop 4 days ago, and there is not S1 on it
I think that all new models are made in the same way.

What is not clear for me is the hole on the right

My 1999 MIA Jazz 3TS Fretless (No S1) is exactly the same as this one.

My old CIJ 75 reissue jazz was routed properly - so you could actually take the guard off
The neck pocket was also a perfect fit - I've not found this to be true of many usa fenders except for the new >2008 models.
