goonieman
Hi All, There is a guy on ebay right now that is selling a Corvette 'proline' in bubinga, that looks like all wenge neck. He reckons it's MIJ and hasn't answered my question on whether he's sure it is... and I can't quite make out the rest of the serial (he's only written part of the serial on the listing... ) This warwick informal history pdf ... https://docs.google....aMzQ/edit?pli=1 ...says the only ones made in japan were dolphins. So this must be a MIG corvette in the transition phase to the Corvette Standard... right? cheers Edited June 19, 2015 by goonieman
Kev
There has never been a Warwick Corvette made in Japan The Proline series were made in Germany, and only Germany. The serial number will confirm all!
verb
Early Corvette Standards had Corvette Proline truss rod covers.
Kev
Yes, not to be confused with the later Proline Corvettes, which were firstly Ash and then Flamed Maple bodies, as opposed to Bubinga
goonieman
aha! thanks guys - I had a feeling I was on the right track. These ones have the JAN I nut... what do you think of it? Are these early 'transition' prolines considered pretty good? The way I understand it is that Warwick 'golden age' was between '90 and 2000. How much should a bubinga corvette go for nowadays? cheers

Does this one have the volute (i.e. the bulge at the back of the neck behind the nut where the headstock joins?) Costs vary like crazy, anywhere between £300 and £500 depending on condition and your onto a decent deal.
Kev
Ah, this one is it? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WARWICK-Corvette-Proline-GUITAR-Made-in-Japan-1995-F026276-Soft-Case-/231552172300?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35e995c10c Crazy he thinks it was made in Japan A little expensive, make an offer Looks a nice example though, and it will be a cracking player with a nice slim neck with MEC 2 band EQ. goonieman
yeah, that's the one! No volute - so I guess its the one with the replaceable truss rod. Looks like an all wenge neck. It's 50 quid postage though... good grief. I reckon the best thing about warwicks is that they have so many moving parts, but the worst thing about warwicks... is that they have so many moving parts... You can fine tune EVERYTHING, but it means all those little grub screws get calcified and locked-down, then you spend 6 hrs on the web trying to find replacements. Those are my concerns with these things.
Annoying Twit
Not only does he think it's made in Japan, but he thinks that eBay rules don't apply to him:
PLEASE NOTE: I am not responsible for any loss sustained by the postal service. The nut screws don't seize and I've never heard of the bridge adjustment bolts seizing. Don't imagine that the truss rod has to be kapput, there are loads without issue; the fact it doesn't have a volute doesn't mean that the truss rod can/will come out by tipping it upside down. I found a different one on ebay and purchased it - a mid-90s bubinga corvette as well. Looking forward to hearing that distinctive growl! I don't mind the weight - I think its part of the sacrifice.
