BigRedX
There is - usually Dante - but when you think think what these devices are being used for, e.g. plugging into an amp, there really aren't too many amps with digital inputs. I think the devices which output Dante are generally the units which are used for microphones, so it makes perfect sense to keep that particular signal in the digital domain from the word go. And if you are going to record into a computer, you may as well go from bass->cable->interface anyway.
For me a digital out would be very useful since the next unit in my signal chain is a BassPod with digital inputs and outputs (both AES/EBU and S/PDIF) so I could skip a whole set of D-A and A-D conversion. I still can't understand why at least Line 6 (who also make of lots of other digital devices) at the semi-pro end of the market don't offer it. Surely the cost of the additional circuitry and output socket would be minimal? I suppose when digital multi-effects come back into fashion for guitarists we'll start seeing wireless units with digital outputs.
Dood
Little bit of testing earlier on and I have to say that this is quite a cool wireless. I configured it to the 5ms setting and I feel you'd be hard pushed to tell much difference between that and a 20ft cable. (I say that as I am A/B'ing with said cable). I'm yet to try it out in a band setting but right now, for the money, I think this is a cracking box of tricks. Simple, no hassle set up. edit: with ref to the cable - there is also a cable length 'simulator' on the device too which is very good. With this switched off (I preferred that setting) there is a nice added clarity in comparison to a long lead. Just a smidge, but it is noticeable. I prefer the sound of my guitars through the wireless but for some people it's a touch too bright so they can round it off with the cable tone simulator. Now they have Yamaha money they are clearly gunning for Fractal - and if their new tech for 1.5ms latency is true then the rack mount version of the Helix could have used wireless with the footcontroller as well. I mean, if you are slipping a small D Class head in to the front of a bass gig bag and carrying your cabinet in one hand, the last thing you want is a big wireless box to fit in the case too. I think this is a great little product and I suspect after taking it out for a proper spin it'll win me over. I'm not actually aware of any small factor digital bug sized transmitters - so I'm hoping that whereas SH's initial product was geared towards guitarists/bassists, they develop it to hit the horn market. I strongly believe that's where the profit in this system is as the guitar market is somewhat saturated. Come on Chris, what's your thoughts? At that price point, (off top of my head) what we got? Audio Technica System 10 Sony DWZB30GB Line 6 G30 Alesis Guitarlink Behringer ULM stuff (coming soon) Joyo (err...) Intellitouch Freedom One Wi Audiolink Actually, looking at this - you are probably right and I'd say your main two worries are Line6 and Sony. Sony is a bit of an anomaly as they are only competitively priced at Thomann and not very well represented on the high street. The quality of your product looks to be good, especially when compared to those lower down in the list above. Realistically you are taking on the top 5 in that list and some of those are higher than your pricing point.
fretmeister
Can we have a photo of the receiver next to a standard Boss pedal? Just for a better idea of the size?
SmoothHoundChris
The flautist uses a flute mic from RM Acoustics to a pre-amp on his belt then just plugs the transmitter direct into the pre-amp. It sounded really good when I heard it on our stand at Musik Messe even if it was playing through a Marshall JCM900. Not a common choice for your average flautist and I can confirm that the flute did not sound good through the overdrive channel. I won't comment on your list but I do know of a number of customers who have moved from significantly more expensive systems to use the Classic primarily for the form factor and the way it sounds. Iain
Quickie question about fixing it in place... I see the pics have it in an edge mounted jack on a square sided guitar. Will it 'stick' on a standard Jazz style connector - i.e. flush to the front of the bass? If not how does it securely strap-mount?

If not how does it securely strap-mount?
Hi Iain, The system ships with a small piece of 'microsuction' tape to fix the transmitter in place. How well the transmitter will stick to an instrument depends on how much area there is for getting contact between the 'microsuction' tape and the surface of the guitar. We looked mainly at well know 6 string guitars and I know the area is limited, for instance, on a Gibson ES 335 but there's plenty on a Fender Jazzmaster. It doesn't take a lot to hold the transmitter in place - it only weighs 58g including batteries - and the microsuction tape is proving popular with lots of customers but some are preferring to use something stronger like a very small piece of 3M Dual Lock (though we do advise that using an adhesive like that on your nitrocellulose lacquer is at your own risk!). To mount on a strap, you need a female to female jack adapter - the Neutrik NYS236 fits perfectly - and, obviously, a patch lead. You can then slip the jack adapter through the adjustment loop on a strap like in these pictures.
