Overwater by Tanglewood, Classic J in candy apple red, upgraded with Kiogon wiring loom
Very good condition. NOW SOLD

Supplied with original controls and additional white pearl pickguard.

I have my upgraded Tanglewater Classic J in candy apple red for sale. I bought it the beginning of the year, to tide me over whilst my ACG custom was away having its new neck fitted by Alan. These were terrific stock basses anyway, as a lot of you will already know, but mine has been improved dramatically by swapping out the original tone controls with one of our very own Kiogon's bell plate-mounted wiring looms. Again, many will already know this but these use only top quality components and are significant upgrades. The controls now consist of a stacked volume/tone for each pickup rather than the master volume/master tone and (not very good) blend as supplied (and which will be included on their bell plate with the sale) which offer a much more fundamentally musical tone. I was honestly very surprised by the difference. Whilst the original tone was a little on the bland and thin side for my tastes it seems that the tone is now somehow fatter and fuller with plenty of punch, offering everything from a tight, punchy Jazz sound to that signature P bass sound too by virtue of the P/J pickup combination. Having used only active basses for a good few years I was surprised by how full sounding the upgraded bass was - terrific, in fact! I'll post some photos of the actual bass in due course but it looks like this (aside from the controls, there being only two stacks now):

This bass is in spotless condition aside from a slight chip in the lacquer on the bottom front edge (n.b location edited). Never noticed this before and it might even have arrived like this from the supplier. Otherwise in as new condition. It will be supplied with the original controls, still on their bell plate, and a spare, white pearl, pick guard. It's presently strung with newish Rotosound RS66 strings, 40 - 95 gauge, though I can chuck in the original strings too (can't remember what they are but wouldn't be surprised if they were D'Adarrio's of some description). NOW SOLD

No trades please. And if there's no interest at this price I'll withdraw it in a while. Please note though, if cash flow is a problem, I'm happy to consider payment in a couple of instalments.

5/8 - Edit for photos requested of bass and upgraded tone controls/circuit.

Thanks all.

Oooh, er, no. Lightweight poplar body apparently and it never struck me as heavy when I was wearing it. It's heavier than my ACG Finn but that's very small bodied so no great surprise there. I'll try and find time to give it the bathroom scale weighing method. :)

Flippyflop, our bathroom scales don't show ounces, I'm afraid, so due to the +/- factor they're next to useless with regard to producing an accurate weight. I'll have a think about trying to get a more accurate measurement.

10lbs & a bit. Far to heavy for me. GLWTS.

Hmm, I'd really be surprised if it did turn out to be quite that heavy, it doesn't feel like it to me. All the same it's now currently ON HOLD.
Thanks,
BC

Bump. BTW, anyone know if there's any way of changing the 'Price or Trade Value' from the original post? I'm buggered if I can find a way of doing it.

Pretty sure there isn't one.
