Annoying Twit
I thought that was for illegal rosewood? Think I'll wait for the Harley Benton version...
Is the Gibson 'decoration only, not suitable for music'?

Bradwell
Gibson was recently (last couple of years) given the dubious title of worst company in the USA to work for, loads of horror stories about the CEO micromanaging everything, unrealistic targets, workers being laid off. Black Richlite and Ebanol are pretty similar materials and to the best of my knowledge just different trade names for a wood fibre & phenolic resin composite. Their fine was for both ebony and rosewood illegally imported from India & Madagascar. Personally I've never been a fan of either their guitars or basses, but some of their models over the last few years have been laughable, anybody see the holy explorer / holy v, dusk tiger or Zakk Wylde Moderne? EliasMooseblaster
Does anybody know which year they started putting the plastic PCBs inside their guitars instead of regular pots and caps? Only, I've never looked inside the control cavity of my T-bird. Never needed to, I'm glad to say, but it is a 2011 model.

Personally, I really like that SG.
I quite like them personally! There are treads all over the Internet discussing how 'bad' etc those two finishes in particular though. I imagine it's yet another double-edged sword situation, like most established instrument manufacturers face. One side says 'you never make anything interesting or new' and the other side have a 'if it ain't broke' viewpoint. The company then tries to accommodate one whilst alienating off the other. They can't really win. Edited June 25, 2015 by skej21
sorry Jennie, didn't mean to keep you hanging, Customs got hold of the bass and among other things I had to purchase some kind of license (£150) as the neck had mother of pearl dot inlays!! So a £650 bass with custom charges, import tax and shipping was a tad expensive .
