paul_5 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Just watching it on iplayer. The sound changed dramatically towards the end of 'Rock it' (3rd or 4th song in) for the better, almost like the YTS kid found the 'put the bass back in' button... Quote
kev b Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Did not enjoy this at all, especially as I spent the first half dismantling my tv system bass speaker because I thought it had stopped working. Pretty sad viewing really, I was waiting for Ace of Spades, did I miss it? Also wondering why the thread hasn't turned into a Rick lovers vs haters thread, what's going on? Quote
White Cloud Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Not classic Motorhead...but I still liked it. Sorry Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 My word, Florence is having a duff night. We've got the radio on, and she keeps being horribly, painfully flat and then screeching unbearably in between songs. Quote

Some hippie bird wailing on about summat' And Motorhead.......just sad to see really. Saw them on the Bomber tour at the Hammy Odeon and it was a stunning gig. Time to knock it on the head i think. White Cloud Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Well past their best but lets not forget Lemmy is 70 and still refusing to play by the rules. Total respect here. As for Florence, the occasion appeared to be a little too much for her...I thought she tried too hard at times. Quote
cloudburst Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) Lemmy is not a bassist. He's a 4 string guitarist. Hey ho, it takes all sorts. CB Edited June 27, 2015 by cloudburst Quote
leschirons Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 So, despite being old and out of touch, can I assume the the shouty out of tune and over enthusiastic pop princess currently making my jaw drop in disbelief, is Florence? Whoever it is, she's sh*t. Quote
jezzaboy Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I thought the best bit was the drum solo I think old Lem is on his last legs but still a rock star. Quote

Billy Apple Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 It was sad to see Lemmy looking so frail. He's lost a lot of weight and looks like his clothes were wearing him. His power is no longer there. I suppose time waits for no man. Quote

chriswareham Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Lemmy and Peter Hook are my two all time favourite bassists. Both highly unconventional and unique. Painful to see how frail he now looks, and he was clearly struggling vocally. Still playing bass like no one else on earth though - amazing to hear how much of it is him when Phil Campbell stops playing. Quote
steantval Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Watched the end of Mary J Bilge Pump set earlier on, again not impressed, loads of flat notes and shouting - not good, I was expecting better. Quote
steantval Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Now watching Rudimental - what a load of sh*te. Loads of repetitive lyrics"................. Quote
redbandit599 Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Glastonbury - pah! Transaction X supporting Peppa Pig and Mr Tumble, this Sunday, in Hyde Friggin' Park - now that's rock 'n' roll... Quote

timmo Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 After reading the comments on here, i was expecting Motorhead to be so bad , that i nearly didn`t bother. Glad i did, i thought they were good Quote
gary mac Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I didn't get to watch much of it last night but out the bits I did see, the most unimpressive was Florence and the most enjoyable for me was Jungle. Quote
bassace Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I've never heard Motörhead before. I can't believe how bad they were. I must be getting old. Quote

In fairness to her, she's clearly a commited artist, but whomever made the decision to move her up to headliner got it seriously wrong, as she was just way out of her league, and no amount of twirling in the glittery high waisters was going to make up for the fact that her act just isn't big enough for that stage and time. Also, I think she was on a loser by comparison with the prospect of Mr Grohl's band banging out the big stadium rock, who would have had the place bouncing. Quote
discreet Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Saw a bit of MH and wasn't too impressed, but they've never been my thing to be fair. Florence is not, and never will be, a singer. I've always maintained that she sounds like an aphasic gibbon screeching down a well. YMMV. Quote
