The pickup itself has a label "ABP-1". And some people say it is Tonerider OEM. In any case stock PU is very decent vintage sounding pickup.

"PBA-1" is the label. (maybe ABP is the left handed version :-p)
The Toneraiders have waxed cloth cables... it's hard to say for certain. I replaced the pickup on mine, but the original is not bad at all. I just like the Entwistle more: it's less of a traditional sound, so if you want classic P the Entwistle neodymium pickup would not be a good choice, but it was what I wanted and the stock pickup would indeed be a better choice.

This bass doesn't stop to amaze me... it feels and plays so well!

Yes. Checked it again and the label on PU is PBA1-BK.

But do we know who makes the pickup? Despite quite a lot of searching I've drawn a blank so far...

I've had this bass for nearly three months and I am blown away with the sound especially when playing IM songs. It still has the strings it came with, but may change tgem and put Rotos on.
