average weight of pakaged bass?

Hi does anyone know an average weight when a bass is pakaged in a light hardcase and in a cardboard box,as i dont have scales

If memory serves, those I've sent through the mail have been around 12Kg including packaging... but I tend to go a little bonkers with the packaging

Bass, bubblewrap and cardboard usually comes in at just under 7Kg when I send.

I use www.interparcel.com This sends by UPS and costs about £11 plus insurance. A £300 bass would cost about £13 to send insured.

Same here, Interparcel/UPS have been great with everything I`ve sent.

I always estimate at 10kg, as up to that the costs are the same anyway - or at least have been when I`ve entered 7, then changed my mind and put 10.

According to Thomann's tracking page, the 4 string jazz, guitar box, bubble wrap and shipping box as 4Kgs and the 5 String is 7Kgs.

I posted a Fender P yesterday in SKB case and cardboard box with near enough a roll of parcel tape wrapped round it! According to my recepit it weighed 11.634kg. Those SKB cases aren't what I'd call lightweight though.

Read the insurance conditions and exclusions carefully though - you're often not as "covered" as you would like to think...
