CN serial number on what appears to be a vinatge series bass, in which case I would expect an R serial number. Strap button on the back of the headstock but can't see a CS logo next to it. And that neck plate is very wonky too. I've emailed the seller. Quote
joe_bass Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 For some thing with a near £3000 price tag you would have thought the info supplied would be slightly more. Quote
neepheid Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I'm sure I've seen this one before, squint neck plate and all. Quote
RayFW Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Is it this one? Macko1968 Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 Had a response from the seller, didn't answer any of my Qs about logos, stamps under the plate, CoA etc. etc.. Just said the serial number proves it's a real CS Fender. Quote
SJA Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 bought it for £931, now selling it for £2,900? Quote
steve-soar Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Greedy little blighter. I'm only jealous. Quote
Clarky Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 There was a thread about this very same bass a few months ago (lots of hilarity at Fender Percusion if I remember correctly) and the consensus was that it was not a Custom shop bass but a bass that had a switched neckplate. Wonder if the £931 buyer was his mate and its a clever ruse???? Quote
DirkThrust Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Surely the guy selling it now and the original buyer who paid £931 are not the same person? There was some debate as to whether it was a genuine CS in the last auction and that time the buyer was Beedster, late of this forum. I'd like to know what's happened to that bass in the meantime. Unfortunately He's not here to ask. Edit: Clarky you beat me to it Edited August 28, 2008 by AndyMartin Quote
waynepunkdude Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) I think the serials are different on those 2 basses but my eyes are sh*t Edited August 28, 2008 by waynepunkdude Quote

Clarky Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Price now halved, to £1,495 Still wouldn't touch with proverbial barge-pole Quote

Musky Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 So, Beedster 'bought' this and then 2 weeks later the seller relists and again it 'sells' to someone based on Hayling Island, this time for £350. No feedback is left by either party in any of these transactions. Now it's turned up in a guitar shop local to the original seller. The same sort of less than great photos, the same less than forthcoming description and apparently the same ignoring of questions. It would seem obvious that the buyers have backed out of the deal, probably because the thing is hooky, and that the seller is totally aware of this. I might suspect that this is a commission sale by the shop, but I'm sure they're probably aware all is not well with this bass. And is close on £3000 not over he top even for a genuine CS without the case and paperwork? Quote

tauzero Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 If you go by the original link, it's £2900, but if you then click on his shop, it's £1495. So I think it's an artefact of ebay rather than the price going up and down like a wossname's drawers. Quote
The Burpster Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 There was one (AFAIK) indentical to this for sale by a US ebay shop about 3 months ago...... Is that TOOoooooo much of coninkidink? I have seen it befor wher shops buy US stuff in USD then try to sell 'em here at huge profits.... It was up for about $1750 IIRC...... it is gen I believe (if indeed it is that one) but WAY overpriced.... Quote
