Thomann Advice

It's been covered before somewhere on here, but what is the most efficient/cheapest way to buy from Thomann? They have some Fender guitars for almost £100-150 less than the UK now. Is there an option to buy through an Amazon account or did I imagine that? Basically, cheapest way without charges!

Just check the charging and rates and use whichever works out cheapest for you. Thomann will invoice you in Euro - the GBP figures on their website are for illustration and sometimes use a suspect exchange rate so don't rely on these. I use this link to enter the Euro value and the conversion % my bank charges to determine how much it will actually cost me.

I've bought a few Gator hard cases over the past few years from Thomann - at various times they were around £120 over here in the UK, but only about £65 from them. Even with the postage charge, it was great.

Over 100/150-ish, and it's free postage. Win-win! :)

I paid my last Thomman Bill with a card and paid 3% currency change charge of about £5.00 , that said they sent some UK kettle leads FOC , I whinged at them last time for not sending UK leads and they said I could buy them , er , no thanks .

I've made a couple of two hundred and a little bit euro transactions over the last half a year (to trigger free postage; spend money to save money... ...?). The estimated cost has only ever been a few pence (like, sub 10p) away from the actual cost. Maybe I have just been lucky? I use Nationwide, and just the 'normal transaction'.

Absolute best way is with something like a Halifax Clarity Card.

It's designed for foreign currency transactions. No commission, no fees, best exchange rate going. Pay it off at the end of the month and you pay nothing extra at all.
This is a MasterCard and the exchange rate applied to the transaction is their rate which may or may not be the best at the time. Compared to Visa the difference on a day by day basis is negligible. Any MasterCard or Visa bank card that doesn't charge a fee is therefore better than one that does, but unless there's an added value 'service' from the bank, then, for any given transaction on the same day they should all be the same.

I have one of these specifically for any international transactions , no overdraft on it just a cash type card , if im making a payment move some cash from my normal account and pay ;-).

Metro Bank will not charge you for international debit card transactions made in Europe***, and our rates in the rest of the world offer outstanding value. faq's using your credit or debit card abroad.

if you pay through paypall there is no charge
but i think paypalls exchange rates are a little iffy..
i got sent the invoice from thomann for €19.30
i paid through paypall at what pay pall charge
1 GBP = 1.34425 EUR
€19.30 = £14.36 GBP

now really the rate should have been...
1 GBP = 1.4059 EUR (or.....1 EUR = 0.71128 GBP...)
€19.30 = £13.72 GBP

so paypall made 58p off me..just on the conversion
i suspect tho that the more it is the less they take as a % on the rate.

but no charge as that was taken out of what thoman get not what i sent.

so now your probably wondering what on earth you can get from thomann for
£14 ????
check it out, check it out,,,,,,THOMANN RULE OK

i needed a new midi card for my mackie Hdr24 and a new drive rack for another storage hard drive

How come they did not charge you postage on a total spend of £14? Mind on the savings you have made even with 10 euros postage that was still a bargain
