Features the active Tonepump Jr. preamp.

Machines
It sounds to me like you have no idea what you want and are just listing a load of basses in your budget. You aren't going to get the answer you want on a forum.

Valhalalf
Well I can highly recommend the Fender Modern Player Jazz V at around £450 http://intl.fender.c...color-sunburst/ I've been gigging with one for over a year now and it's been lovely. plus the pickup switching will give you the humbucker bridge / single jazz at the neck you want. geoham
Lakland. No question. Best 5 string neck I've felt.
^ This! My 5501 is my third attempt at five strings. I had a cheap perspex Wesley that I moved on quickly. Several years later, I bought an Ibanez SR405. I really wanted to like that one, but tight string spacing and a floppy B string meant it also had to go. (I'm comfortable on both P and J necks, but this felt like a guitar to me!) I recently bought a Lakland 5501 and it's simply wonderful. The fifth string is great, crystal clear and nice tension. The neck is quite chunky and the string spacing is similar to a P-bass. I can see why the 35 inch scale might be problematic for some, though it's fine for me. (My hands are pretty average sized too) Costs £699 new, but they do pop up on here used now and then.
I sold my 5501 with Bartolini NTMB preamp for £400 as the market was pretty slow at the time. There are bargains to be had! I preferred the 5501 to the 5502 dlx I had more recently. Neck is the same. It's sufficiently chunky to satisfy those that like 'proper' 5 string spacing, but it's assymetric so it doesn't feel TOO big. I believe they also have a compound fretboard radius, but I might be wrong on that. Edited July 7, 2015 by Bigwan
The Badderer
Lakland 5 string is a very good answer and you would be wise to listen to it. £590 for a JO5 is a steal! If I wasn't about to go to the US I would seriously consider getting that. My other thoughts would be, why are you getting a 2nd 5 string? If it's a back up to the 1st then why not get the Sire 5 string as you have one and like it? If you aren't buying it as a back up then I would say either book a day and go and try out loads at your nearest driveable decent bass shop, or do what a lot of here have done and buy and sell until you find the right one. Sometimes the most important thing to figure out is WHY you're buying it and it will then help to clarify what you are after.

ead
This has just appeared on the ACG website. I know it's over your budget, but represents huge value for money for somebody: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/portfolio/0180-recurve-5/

Damonjames
Hi GassBass, when I saw this thread, I was going to say either a USA SUB5, or if you found someone willing to drop their pants, maybe a USA RAY5 or a Spector euro 5. Given you have had both and got rid, I don't know what it is that you are looking for!!!! Both the euro (with a third party pre or a trim pot tonepump) and the ray5 are exceptional basses, and would own both in a heartbeat. Personally know you have tried a few basses since, I'd revisit them before buying anything else in that price bracket.
Machines
Read above, he's already ordered an L-2500.
