Jono Bolton Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I'm looking to switch the nuts on my 2 Matt Freeman Precisions but there is lacquer over the ends of the nut. What's the best way to get them out without damaging the finish on the neck? Quote
HowieBass Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I think I've read somewhere that you're advised to use a scalpel blade to cut into the finish to give a clean line when you break the nut out of the slot. Quote
BruceBass3901 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I've read the same; cut into the lacquer with a scalpel blade so that it doesn't crack when the nut is removed Quote
fingerz Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I would always get a tech to do it - it's one of those things I've never tried to do because I don't want to cause any damage that could be irreversible. I'll be interested to see how you get on if you do go for it. Quote
