Jono Bolton
I'm looking to switch the nuts on my 2 Matt Freeman Precisions but there is lacquer over the ends of the nut. What's the best way to get them out without damaging the finish on the neck?
HowieBass
I think I've read somewhere that you're advised to use a scalpel blade to cut into the finish to give a clean line when you break the nut out of the slot.
BruceBass3901
I've read the same; cut into the lacquer with a scalpel blade so that it doesn't crack when the nut is removed
Grangur
Agreed: as above. Have a nice day.
fingerz
I would always get a tech to do it - it's one of those things I've never tried to do because I don't want to cause any damage that could be irreversible. I'll be interested to see how you get on if you do go for it.
