DanOwens
I'm borrowing this bass and it has a pickup installed. It's missing a clip but looks like it has been attached using putty too; I'm just wondering what pickup it is? Thanks!
Beer of the Bass
It looks like a Fishman BP100, but I think there were cheaper copies around too.
BassBod
Yep, looks like the BP100 - one of the first useable pickups. I've still got one superglued to the bridge of my Clifton EUB. You have to use a preamp to get any low end out of it, can be a bit finger noisey, but still pretty good. The sound improves dramatically if the fit to the bridge face is good (not with blueback, it needs to be flat surface to flat surface) but there should be more cable going through the bridge - if the wires get tugged where they join the pickup elements they will die...like most other pickups. You can still get the metal clips from Thomann, but stationary clips also work, if memory serves me...
hubrad
Any Fish man dealers should be able to get the clips for you. I used to have one yonks back , and had to get a spare pair!
DanOwens
Thanks everyone! I'll check those clip suppliers.
BassBod
One more thing - the other side of the bridge is often flatter then the top, so do consider trying that as it may sound better.

[/quote] You're absolutely right. I've not even tried plugging it in yet but when it comes to it, I'll give it a go. Thanks!!
