NBD - It's another Mike Lull :)

She arrived a few hours ago, I bought her blind and had an expectation which was better than matched when it turned up. I still can't believe I bought a green bass, it's a cool colour but way out of my comfort zone. I was never into the pearloid pickguard but luckily I had a white Lull pickguard from my other PJ4 as I took that one off and replaced it with a parchment one.

This is my second PJ4, In fact judging by the fact that it's got the same date on the certificate as my other one they are from the same 'batch'. Both were finished in February this year, I got the other blue one 2 months ago. Though they are both PJ4's, they are totally different tonal animals yet feel the same, react the same and have a familiar vibe about them. I went for another because my other one has flats on and I wanted a slightly different version to have rounds on, but still in my favoured ash and maple combination. Without a doubt, the new one is the better one in terms of hi fi sound. It's got a Bartolini preamp and Nordstrand pickups, the weight, punch and clarity of tone is superb, or 'exceptional' as Mark from Bass Direct said this morning when I emailed to say thanks. The blue one also has Nordstands as well, but a dual coil bridge pickup which gives it a very honky and mid ranged tone, which I love. The blue one is more 'me', but the new green one is right behind and fills the gaps that the blue one can't do. They are a perfect compliment to each other, just what I was hoping for and am now completely over the moon about.

One is a touch under 8lbs, one a touch over, but they feel the same and have the weight, balance and feel that is ideal for me, a big reason I got two of the same model. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Thanks to Bass Direct and Mike Lull, I can't imagine having another better suited bass to my needs.

Bleurrgh! Horrible; just plain nasty looking! Look, don't fret, I'll drive over and remove it from your sight and dispose of it in a suitable fashion (see, add to the quiver at Ez Towers). ;)

Congrats, nice one. Enjoy.

Congratulations... Another Lull in the proceedings, arf arf. You've got to love an ash/maple combo and thank god you weren't tempted to fit a tort guard. Enjoy. :)
Oh mate, I almost brought up my lunch when you mentioned tort on that :)

Cheers Pal, that's a very thoughtful and kind offer, but if the worst comes to the worst there is always a respray option... Dare I say it! (Hopefully not though)

Haha :)

Right you are though, I think it'd be a crime to cover that up.

I think it's my guilty pleasure.....

Not fitting a tort guard to that green one is heresy.

Could you not just wear tinted glasses if the colour bothers you :D

Congrats on the new Lull
Good call, rose tinted glasses should do the trick....

That surf green colour is perfect.
Thank you, it's one of those colours that changes in the light quite a bit. It's actually a Sea Foam Green Metaliic, the Metaliic element is pretty cool close up.

Lovely basses you have there Chiliwailer.

Cheers,
Jon

Cheers Jon, im really chuffed to have them. I've been selling off a lot of basses that are either too heavy or ergonomically uncomfortable for me so these two have been well worth the wait :)

Wow, the new Lull is lovely! but your other one is one of the nicest basses I've ever seen, absolutely adore the finish, they make a stunning pair B)
Thanks man, really glad you like it. Bass Direct have a gorgeous Lull Jazz 5 string in the same colour.

Luckily the blue one is my number 1 because I much prefer that colour too :)

No way, all 'custom colours' should have white/mint scratch plates apart from Oly White ;)

It's only green until you put it next to something blue. :)

So what happens when you put it next to Candy Apple Red? B)

Lovely looking bass, love the colour, congrats :)

Thanks fella"s, I'm still buzzing.

Mrs Chiliwailer is finally happy too, she's been giving me tons of grief for selling my blue Jazz Bass and purple Modulus purely as she loves the colours. She's not into the trans blue of my other Lull so finally there's a colour she likes in the green one. She came pretty close to buying the Jazz Bass just to keep it hanging on the wall!

Who'd have thought, a Mrs giving grief for SELLING :)

Wow, stunning basses you have there!
After having bought mine and seeing how good they are, no wonder you have ordered a second one :gas:

Congratulations, enjoy it!
Cheers pal.

I'm so glad I did order another. I can't believe how different they sound yet how perfectly the same they feel and react to the way I dig in and play.

I'm one very happy bunny :)

What a beaut, love the colour! :i-m_so_happy:
Being a P, what's the neck like? Jazz-esque or a bit chunkier like a modern P?

If I had the chance to get another I would in a heartbeat, I got quite lucky picking up a used 1.. especially being a lefty!
