D-COOPER
All absolutely gorgeous!!In my opinion G&L's are still a bit of a secret to a lot of bass players. If you accept that Leo Fender had an ethos of continual development and improvement then these basses are the best he ever designed(he said so himself!!).I have an old El Toro but would love to get an L2500. I was telling some of the local bass players about me purchasing a G&L L2500, and they're all like "a what?". in my opinion theyre just as good as fenders/musicman etc. seriously under-rated instruments!!!! Machines
My turn to chip in ! My brand new L-2000 Tribute Carved Top. I must say - it is a revelation, it sounds like lots of basses i've owned, but none of them have been able to do more than one thing. This does everything. I got it from Bass Direct a few weeks ago after being curious and asking Mark to get one of these Carved Tops in. When I got there it hadn't turned up, so I played a Walnut Stain one instead which was awesome. I waited around 6 hours (it's not like there was nothing to look at!) and the courier came, got it out the box and decided there and then it was coming home. It's first gig coming up this Saturday . funkgod
Edited my 2 posts to this one... thought i would add mine, all USA. great story for the one on the left. I got it from a shop in birkenhead about 20 years ago it was 2nd hand then but as new. about 2 years later i sold it to a chap in manchester, for the cash to get something which was pants... so then all the time i wished i had never sold it then about 3 years ago i spotted it on ebay, when i contacted the seller it was the chap i sold it to, he never used it and it sat under his bed all that time, so it was pulled from ebay and i got it back £100 less than he paid for it in the same as new condition with tags and original G&L fender type case also as new, its the 3 bolt one just as they changed from having the plate on the front with leo fenders sig on the head stock, its going nowhere this time. The black Beast... Iv been after one of these for years, i have a wanted ad on here from years ago still running and bagged this 1981/2 not long ago and am positively BUZZIN,, Very powerfull defined sound, I just need an EBONY fretless (pref with hog body) and an all natural necked one now.... (another 5 years of lookin,) anyone got one for sale ? The translucent red is one of the best basses i have ever played its heavy at 8.3kg which i love this thing is as powerfull as my wal and it will growll spit and fart if you dig in hard and the slap sound would pin you to the back wall, mr king or mr johnson would love it im sure, to me its the ultmate funk bass, super low action great neck and is now with the wal my main bass. The one on the right has a quilted maple top which is a custom order ( you can order this top from the web page), which is one of the best tops i have seen on a G&L along with a few on this page ( photo does not do this one justice) its lighter than the other two, 6 bolt wider fast neck again great clear slap tone but not as much body or punch in the sound as the other three, a bit thinner sounding in the lower mid and again in the low end. to sum up, i think the G&Ls are amongst the best production bass on the planet, there is nothing they wont do, and what ever they do they do VERY WELL, an all time great all rounder. am i waffling now.... ..... ok al shut up. brace yourselvs [attachment=106395:IMG_3309.jpg] [attachment=106396:IMG_3311.jpg] [attachment=106397:IMG_3312.jpg] [attachment=106398:gl quilt.jpg] [attachment=103819:IMG_3190.jpg] Edited October 14, 2012 by funkgod

funkgod
Hi gary, ebay, A lady in an RAF big band had it and hardly used it as the sound was too "Electric" for big band so she decided to sell it. Ye harrr
