First thing he noticed was the DAB "Marshall" radio, "OK", he said, "so at least we know we're in the home of a musician".

Yeh, I had something similar. The guy may have noticed twelve basses and two guitars hanging on the wall, plus a Roland VK-09 next to the electronic drumkit.

But probably just a lucky guess, I reckon.

;)

He might have reckoned they were there for decoration...

So that'll be why they stopped making bass amps - there were obviously more important R&D projects to put the cash into. :(
But they haven't... they have Eden and thats where they are focusing their R&D.

True, although there are no longer any Marshall-branded bass amps being made.
Eden amps are great, but they don't really carry Marshall's rock'n'roll legacy with them...

So after the initial hype, did anyone here buy the Marshall phone?
Err guilty as charge yer honor, Personally I love it, stereo speakers on the front are loud enough to be useful, on my desk at work when I'm alone, for instance. As a phone it works just fine, being Android the interface is at least recognisable, if a tad different to my previous, the scroll wheel is just too good! Audio interface I'm still playing with as I ended up using my old one ported over from other phone. There are probably other gadgety bits I have missed too, but all in good time. Not found a way to plug my bass into it yet though :(

Finally its looks way cooler than my old Samsung!!!

I was under the impression that the 2 headphone outputs are also inputs, and there is a 4 track DAW already installed?
Or have I totally misunderstood their advertising blurb?

So the socket is both an output AND an input?

That's a neat trick. I can imagine some other applications for that technology ...

"At the top are what look like two 3.5mm headphone jacks, but these actually function as dual inputs and outputs, so as well as being able to share listening with a friend, you can plug a mic in to record as well, which is a nice touch."

Price now £239 with a further 10% off if you sign up to the email updates. Mode in ear headphones (current selling price £45) included too.

Got to say, I'm tempted.

Tried to buy one, but the 10% discount does not apply to the new price, so sod 'em! :P

I thought so too until I actually looked into it. They've actually tried to make something different with some very interesting features that could be
useful to musicians and audiophiles. Good luck to them!

You sell what people want to buy, so if you want to sell a phone with a Marshall brand you "push" the points that speak to the target audience so to speak. It's just business.

Good luck to them, I'm just not the target audience clearly.

So it's not marketing gone mad then, more marketing done quite well.
:)
Hmmm... That depends. If the quality of the marketing is judged on how many they sell, that might suggest otherwise :-)

To be fair, even at £239, that's a good reduction on the RRP

It's a Black Friday price. Valid until today. We'll see if it goes back up tomorrow.
