Hi all,

I am selling this great little bass at a very reasonable price, that is, the one I paid for it on BC in the first place.

First things first:

6 strings; wengé / bubinga neck; rosewood fingerboard; mahogany body; Bartolini MK1 series pick ups and preamp. It's in great nick: there might be some wear, but I can't really see it. I'll shoot better pics when I am back to London.

The one thing you might want to do: the hardware on these tends to darken (due to some form of oxidation, I suppose). It can be remedied but I liked the look: you might beg to differ, and so here you have it for full disclosure.

The reason I am selling it is that I am more of a BTB guy, I just ordered an upper level BTB model, and have been testing my exceptionally tolerant girlfriend's patience for the better part of the last year. I'd keep it because it plays very well, but I can't justify two sixers. In fact, it's up for debate whether I can justify one at all.

This is a 2006 or 2007 model and it's extremely nice. Added value - the neck: on the newer ones is jatoba/bubinga, while this one is wengé / bubinga. It's exceptionally stiff and plays like a dream with low actions, with a nice growl. The sustain is just beyond ridiculous, really, not something you'll ever have to complain about. Frets are in great shape and the truss rods can move the neck from straight edge to crossbow and back again: perfectly working.

Pick ups and electronics are in full working order. It does not, however, have the frequency selector switch for the mids that newer models have - not that I've ever felt the need for it, frankly. Other than that, it plays great.

The bass is in London and it would be my utmost pleasure to offer you a nice espresso (the perks of buying from Italians) as you noodle on the bass to try it. Depending on the case my next bass is going to come in, I might be tempted to let it go with a semi-hard square case, which is quite battered up and misses some lining, but does the trick. I would very much prefer for you come try it and then indulge in a treat to yourself with cash on collection.

SHIPPING: I understand that it's a common occurrence to ship things around the kingdom. Well, I've never done that here, but I guess I could try if you 1) tell me how to; 2) pay for the shipping; 3) assume the risk by trying your luck or buying insurance for the postage. I have packaged and posted about half a dozen basses and guitars in Italy, so I suppose it's like riding a bicycle.

Short sample: here is an awfully mixed sample in a metal-ish setting. You can appreciate the throaty growl, though!

And I just remembered that I also have a short and ugly dry sample. It gives you an idea of the attack this bass has:

Thanks for looking!

I am sure misterdistortion won't mind me using additional pictures from his original sale thread

Bump: I could be convinced to part with my semi-hard case for a tenner. If this isn't a bargain, I don't really know what is! :)

(Plus, I'll make you coffee, for realz!)

I had this very model (Korean SR506 from 2006) as my first six string Ibanez Soundgear and I still remember the warm, round sound and the playability (at that time I had a six string BTB and I did not like it's neck at all)
Unfortunatley I have absolutely no reason to buy this as I'm the owner of two Prestige six string Soundgears and can not use them as much as I'd like to.
But for anyone who's looking for a well rounded six string bass with quality sound, craftmanship and ergonomics and all of this for a fair price don't look further.
