police squad Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 not only are they really nice chaps but they were fantastic. Anyone else seen them? Quote
dmccombe7 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Not seen them but have seen Ledd Zepp twice and they are amazing. Dave Quote
spongebob Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Their old drummer was my drum tutor - 30 years ago! Quote
toneknob Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Yep, they're grand - and I've played with their "Jimmy" back in the day when we were in the same Genesis tribute band, lovely chap. Quote
KevB Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 (edited) Saw and got quite matey with the original lineup over 10 years ago (and got quite drunk with them in Nottingham after doing a bit of voluntary gear humping for them after a gig in Nottingham once). Then Simon the drummer left though I think he's now back and the guitarist and finally Steve on bass/keys went so Billy on vox is the only constant member, think the band basically revolves around him. Nice bloke, started out as a bass player in Jagged Edge for those of us who remember that far back. Edited July 19, 2015 by KevB Quote
spongebob Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Simon's back? He was my tutor. Though he was only 19 at the time! ....and I was a mere 11! Quote
bonzodog Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Anyone living in the Midlands and likes Zep should check out The Zeppelin 3. Amazing tribute even though only a 3 piece. Quote
Subbeh Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Haven't seen them for a while but also in the midlands, Fred Zeppelin. Always enjoyed their bass player's stuff. Quote
KevB Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Yeah the Freds have been going even longer, singer is a Nottingham lad but the rest were all originally west midlands based. Probably nearer 20 years ago the first time I saw them, Running Horse in Nottm. They still occasionally play a pub not far from me. They were OK but used to lack a keys playing bass player so it closed off doing authentic versions of a good few Zep classics. They may have sorted that out these days though, not seen them for years. Quote
bonzodog Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Always thought Fred Zep singer struggled with the high notes but the Zeppelin 3 singer/bass player gets them all. Then again not seen Fred Zep for a few years Quote
police squad Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 yep, Simon back on drums and I saw jagged edge support Motorhead (a very long time ago) Quote
Happy Jack Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 The only Zep tribute I've yet seen were Zepparella: http://youtu.be/WpYlSO_E190 Quote
