Upgrades to my Squier VM Jazz

When I 1st joined I remarked on how I'd bought a J but preferred the sound of a P. From all the suggestions given, I've had the series/parallel switch thing done to it. In series mode it sounds more like a sort of P/J hybrid, it's the J sound but with a bit more bottom and a bit more oomph. I rather like it. Parallel handles the higher notes better, they're clearer and more articulated but series gives a lot more grunt down the bottom end. The great thing is it's like having 2 basses in the same body

Also had Status Hot Wire Half Wounds put on with the mods and I really love the sound, it's so rich throughout the entire range.

You really need a P to get the sound of a P. However, glad you're liking your J. I like Status Half Wounds too, very underrated imho. I had a Squier VM Jazz V a while back and I fitted an Audere JZ3 tone circuit to it, which basically turned it into a Super Jazz. I'm sure the East J-Retro would be great too, thought I've not used one... the Auderes do come up second hand, but only rarely.
