Mykesbass
Ok, following up on the Groundhog day thread, how about a list of songs that get that "I haven't heard that in ages" response? My starter 1 Drift Away, Dobie Gray Edited July 23, 2015 by Mykesbass

Truckstop
Philadelphia Freedom - Elton John I prefer Elton's version to Hall and Oates because it's got a disco vibe to it and the chorus is a little bigger.

Roland Rock
We only have two covers that we trot out occasionally - Police and Thieves by Junior Murvin, and lovers rock classic 6th Street by Louisa Marks. Both go down really well.

Mudpup
3rd song in on the second set is the trigger song - if anyones not dancing/singing already they will be with this one.......... Boys Of Summer - The Ataris version though. Simple and efficient. https://youtu.be/Qt6Lkgs0kiU Oh and we do Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls too - usually see a dozen punters raising a knowing eye to that one too. scalpy
Hey ya- outkast, but then our band is called The Hey Yahs! The horns and keys do all the synth parts and it's a great excuse to break out the filter pedal.
pjb13.bass
Lady Elenore by Lindisfarne and How Come by Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance. These are always well received. We play these in my three piece acoustic folk-rock/americana band. I would have to acknowledge that we do tend to play to an audience of a certain age. Rod's Mandolin Wind is another one. allighatt0r
We do: This version of Superstition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS3XJQA6voE This version of Talking Heads - Burning Down the House https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=153Folu115A Not many people do Keep The Faith by Bon Jovi, but that always seems to go down well. Mississippi Queen by Mountain is also good.

Mykesbass
Even across a wide range of styles this shows that you can get some variety in the set - Sorry Allighat0r, but even a different version, Superstition doesn't belong on here 1. Slipperydick
I never watch covers bands these days, so its hard to say what others are doing. But Blockbuster, Wooly Bully, and Great Balls of Fire always go down well for us. In the past a band I was with covered Joe Cockers version of Please Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood, which went down really well. All great songs for a drunken singalong to the chorus.
