warwickhunt
Curly leads (a la Brian May), pick-up/bridge covers, scratchplates and those great big felt picks... in any order you like. Not strictly bass related but plectrum holders... isn't that just a fancy name for your guitarist

BassMunkee
85% of people who say they don't like rotosound strings are just distasted because they either can't play them well, or can't afford them. 10% are just saying it to be contrary or because they think it'll earn them 'bass cred'. All I need now is for someone to have a pop at Status, Focusrite and Crown and I'll have the full set too! C'mon Kev (or Josh), you know you want to.
I've had a King Bass and they are great basses, just not for me, the same for S2's, Empathie's etc etc etc... If they all play as good as a King Bass and if ever the want for a Status brings me down with a severe case of man flu then I won't hesitate to get another. I haven't had any experience with Focusrite and Crown though Rich, and if their both preamps or something then I doubt I will, but I'm sure they do their job! Ohhhh where are my manners, Yamaha BB's have never done anything for me, they just look and feel awkward, though no problems whatsoever with RBX's or TRB's. Haven't read the whole topic but I want to go off at a tangent. I have grown to hate Jeff Berlin; everything he says and EVERYTHING he plays. There is a trio version of his 'Bach' thing on YouTube - it is so lame it is unreal. He plays with his head and not his heart and the results are emotionally dead. His MySpace posts are excruciating. His dress sense is worse than mine and that is saying something but, hey, I am not out there in public like he is. His moustache makes him look like an ex-70s porn star and his signature basses are pitiful. His Norah Jones duets are so cringeworthy it is astonishing and his efforts at self promotion are so transparent he wouldn't be out of place on Celebrity Big Brother. I am even getting worrried that I feel this strongly about a dork! I have no strong feelings about ANY other players but he is really getting on my t**s lately. Or is it just me? ZMech
has anyone mentioned spectors, or is my bass somehow safe through all this? since it's not custom, signature, and has a standard top, I think every amp i've ever considered getting has been mentioned though. Oh and the right strap can transform how your bass feels and hangs and thus how well you perform and play ....
The straps I buy are certainly less than the cost of a few pints of beer. In fact, they're cheaper than the cost of one pint of beer. Both ends reach the bass and the bass remains suspended above the floor, which is the basic minimum I require of a strap. Stick a bit of neoprene in (the same as the back of a 50p mouse mat) and all of a sudden they're thirty quid. Ditto making them wider and using the word "Comfort". ruztiwarren
Music shops with vintage instruments hanging on the wall for show not sale. My classic is the only music shop in Croydon (I forget the name) which has a beautiful early 70's Fender jazz bass hanging 12 feet up the wall with a "not for sale" sign! It's been up there unplayed for god knows how long gathering dust. Travesty.

God bless neoprene!).
