I haven't had anything done to what I have left yet, so I can't help with a recommendation, apart from Jimmy Moon defretting an Aria TSB550 years ago. I heard he was concentrating on custom builds and no more repairs, but I'm well out of touch Quote
xgsjx Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 God knows where I got Fife from I'd been looking at maps for most of the morning (planning a drive). I've never heard of Moon for ages & didn't know he was still building. I might have a wee search later. Quote
spiritchaser Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 I fully trust in Rüdiger Ziesemann from Bassline Basses in Krefeld, North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. He did a splendid job with my WAL 5 and our "Hybrid" WAL fretless project (http://www.bassline-bass.de/). Cheers Oliver Quote

tom1946 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 (edited) I can recommend Nigel Stockbridge in Richmond, North Yorks. http://www.nigelsguitarworkshop.co.uk/ I've had a lot of work done over the years though not on bass's. He can repair or set up anything, very clever man who deals with a lot of famous people. Also Steve Suggitt. Lives in West Ayton near Scarborough is another luthier I have used. He builds all kinds of guitars and does repairs and setups. Very talented man. http://www.chapelguitars.com/ And finally, Martin Dixon http://web.ukonline.co.uk/mdguitars/ Can do anything. I've seen bass's that he's made and they are simply stunning! He's in Otley near Leeds. Hope that helps. Tom. Edited January 7, 2010 by tom1946 Quote

alansanderson Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I take my basses to a chap called Jack Ellis up in Salford, so if you're in the Manchester area he's a possibility. He's a top guy to deal with and I've never had any problems, always documents exactly what he does and will re-adjust your bass free of charge if the set-up isn't quite right or it settles in and starts buzzing or anything... I think he's on here as "gabson" or you can get hold of him on 07706828122 - tell him I sent ya =) Quote
