spiltmilk_2000
Hi guys, haven't been able to see from online pics but just wondering if these limelight basses have authentic looking checking in the relic finish? They look great from a distance! Thanks Russ
martthebass
Not sure on my terminology with respect to 'checking'. If you mean the sort of 'thermal shock' induced laquer cracking then my Limelight doesn't have it. The paint ion my heavy relic more sort of thin nitro satin, no thickish gloss top coat to check. Geek99
Isn't that called crazing? I thought checking was chipped off bits of lacquer
Mattmit
I don't know man. Like you said they look great from a distance but I think they do look relic'd rather than old if you put them under too much close up scrutiny. Having said that mine are relatively early versions and each new one I see coming through here seems to get better and better. The second one I bought was Def a level up from the first in terms of the relic job. Anyway I wasnt interested in a worn bass when I bought my first one, I just wanted a great bass for a decent price in colours I could choose, I would have had it worn or not but I love it now. And I did go on to buy another.

cameltoe
My Bravewood has great checking. I really must start a NBD thread. My Roadworn (2008) didn't have much, but in the 6 years I've had it it's becoming more crackedz
