M-Bass-M Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Noticed this in my Twitter feed the other day: There's something about it which makes me intrigued...I guess I'd love to know how it plays as a short scale, and what sort of sounds you can get out of that pickup configuration. My GAS has certainly increased slightly! Quote

M-Bass-M Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Huh, even more versatile than I first imagined! Really curious to try a short-scale bass now. Wonder how it would look with a slightly smaller headstock...looks a bit out of scale with the body. Quote
Funk³ Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'd love to try out one of the ones from the original Fender CS run, before they started making them in the Classic Player line on a production scale. Even this particular model sounds fantastic! Quote
EssentialTension Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015
That's a somewhat non-standard bridge!
Guild harp bridge in style at least. Quote
The headstock looks like a Coronado headstock, which is also a 30" scale, so maybe they are using the same neck. Quote
M-Bass-M Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Yeah, I think they mentioned that on the Premier Guitar review, how they've taken bits from all sorts of different bases (and guitars for the PuPs!). Quote
alyctes Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Nice to see a good-looking Fender for a change . Quote
PlungerModerno Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015
. . . Wonder how it would look with a slightly smaller headstock...looks a bit out of scale with the body.
+1 it looks good - but with a Bass VI style headstock I think it'd be even nicer: Like this one (but matched to the body paint of course): http://shop.guitarpoint.de/de/Fender/1963-Fender-Bass-VI-Olympic-White Quote
ras52 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) I can see it fitting in very nicely as a sofa-side noodling machine. But is it overpriced for a MIM? Edited August 3, 2015 by ras52 Quote

CamdenRob Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 This has popped up somewhere before... I seem to remember it was staggeringly expensive? Looks good though. Quote
CamdenRob Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015
£691 at GAK. Is that staggering?
I must be thinking of a different one Quote

CamdenRob Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015
Maybe the custom shop version.
That might be the one yes... I just remember that picture from a thread a year or so back and at some point the price coming out and it being in the multiple thousands I also remember quite liking the look of it then... as I do now Quote
EssentialTension Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I might have to go to try one out in local shop. Quote
EssentialTension Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 The pickups are Seymour Duncan lipstick tubes for Stratocasters. Quote
dannybuoy Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Very tempted! Some great sounds in there, particularly bridge + middle and bridge + neck. Would love to whack a set of flats on one of these! Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Looks like a classic Fender parts bin special, and the name is ridiculous, but it sounds damn good! Quote
