Do you ever hear the intro to Harlem Shuffle and think you're about to get Jump Around or vice versa?

How about David Bowie's Let's Dance and Twist and Shout?

Any others you can think of?

Hah, I once heard a drunk guy singing all the right words over a song - except they were to a completely different song. He didn't care - he was going to sing all the words as loudly as possible to convince everyone else he did have the right song. It was brilliant. He didn't stop until the next song started!

I think this relates to The Funk's 1st post, every time I hear the intro to 'son of a preacher man' I start singing 'hits from the bong' by cypress hill! Its a terrible thing to say but its the only time I'm disappointed to hear Dusty Springfield sing!

Once the guitarist announced we were playing dani california, and the drummer kicked into the hard to handle beat - took me a couple of bars to work out how to come in on that!

Oasis Don't Look Back in Anger and Imagine by John Lennon. Every time.

+1
Even the main tune is a copy of Norwegian Wood!

If anything just cos you done get the immortal line of" there's water inside don't spill it. Smells like sh*t on the carpet"

I know it's a sample and a bit obvious but, I hate it when the lovely intro to Ventura highway comes on the radio and it ends up being bl**dy Janet Jackson and Someone to call my lover!

Whenever our guitarist plays the intro to A Little Less Conversation, the drummer and I sing Angel of Harlem over the top of it.
It really annoys him and we just giggle like a pair of idiots.

Love it.

Although the chord run that's a lift from "All the Young Dudes" is also confusing.

Once I started sing "Taxman" over the Jam's "Start". Easily done m'lord...
That's cos Start is a blatant rip off of the Taxman riff.

Played in a band once where the drummer could never play the intro to 'Jailhouse Rock'. screwed it up every single time. The poor lad used to get so wound up about it that in the end the rest of us took pity on him and took it out of the set.

Happy days!

Also that one where the drummer clicks and shouts "2, 3, 4". Nights like that are always good, particularly when depping.

Seriously though, I once worked with a drummer who would click "2, 3, 4", and the "1" was always silent, in his head to himself… threw everyone off a couple of times...

Deviating slightly, when you catch the instrumental parts of The Dandy Warhols' Bohemian Like You, do you ever think I don't remember this bit in Jumping Jack Flash?

In the early days of incorporating You Can't Hurry Love and Valerie (Amy's version) into our set I had huge problems selecting the right rhythm for each, compounded by the fact that bass comes straight in for both.

Another example of classic Noel Gallagher songwriting. I don't know how he gets away with it, this one still catches me out now.
