mazdah Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I just bought MAG-115 cab, and while I quite like the sound I think I'm going to experiment with it a little. I also have an empty ABM-115 enclosure (the big one, not Compact) and I think I'm going to try the MAG speaker in it. The enclosure is a lot bigger so I'm worried how the speaker will handle it. What do you think about this idea? Quote
alexclaber Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Woofer holes and bolt circle diameter may be different so might not fit! If it does then you'll get lows but it'll overload more easily. Might sound good, might not. Quote
grenadilla Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 You will still be short one 15. Look at the newer Celestions . Sica is supposed to be even better. Quote
mazdah Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 I still have Ampeg PF stack with one 15 But I`m building a second stack because I find my LB-30 sounding a little bland with Ampeg cabs, while my Ampeg preamp and B-1 hybrid head sound fantastic through them. I`ll try the speaker today, first I have to buy a soldering iron Quote
gjones Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) I fitted an Eminence, 4 ohm, 450 Watt, Kappa speaker into an Ashdown EB 150 cabinet. It sounds great and is stupidly loud when connected to my 500w Mibass head. Sometimes you just have to experiment. Edited August 4, 2015 by gjones Quote
mazdah Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 OK, I just did it. The speakers are (in my case) THE SAME! Both have the same number: HK-07490. Works great, sounds a bit better due to larger plywood enclosure Quote
