Tdw Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Yes, as long as they are short, say 10 seconds or so. Quote
colgraff Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 A good solo is like a good speech; short and to the point. No longer than 2 minutes. A good example is the bass solo from Tommy the Cat on the Suck on This album. Quote
Funky Dunky Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I'm happy to listen to a bassist showing off on his own for two or three minutes, but if I go to see a band and it all stops so the bassist can have a solo spot, I'm off to the bar. Just play the riffs and hold the grooves, dude. Fill, by all means, but that's plenty. I love Billy Sheehan's bass lines but when the band stops and he starts widdling, it just sounds horrid to me. Bilbo Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Good solos, bad solos. That's the only distinction. Quote
