elros Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I am offering for sale all my high end bass guitar equipment. Have no fear, I am not giving up bass playing. But I won't be having any serious gigs for a good while, and so I figured I can't just have all this great gear sitting around seeing no proper use. Besides, I really could use the money. The short story: Benavente Vortex 6-string fretless bass for sale. Asking for NOK 20.000 kroner. It's a beauty. Surine Regency X 6-string bass for sale. Asking for NOK 15.000 kroner. My workhorse. Conklin Sidewinder 9-string bass for sale. Asking for NOK 25.000 kroner. This one is lovely. If I could keep only one, it'd be this one. Warmoth G4 jazz bass for sale. Asking for NOK 7.000 kroner. Visit this page for links to individual pages containing more information about each item / instrument. http://hallgeir.no/hmt/sale/ All of it is located in Norway, on the south-west coast. E-mail or PM me for more info. And the prices are in Norwegian NOK. You can use this currency converter for example. See also the ads for my amplifier system, and the pedal board.
ped Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Crikey, what will you have left? Hope you are well matey ped
Shaggy Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 (edited)
Crikey, what will you have left?
My first thought too! Have you sold off your old penguin avatar too? I bought a Listerud Totem 7 off Elros a couple of years back, and can confirm he's a smashing guy to deal with, as well as being irritatingly virtuoso-tastic on ERB's. Shipping from Norway proved to be doddle, even at Christmas, and NO customs / import / VAT duties to pay. Good luck with the sale - just hope you don't regret it! Edited September 1, 2008 by Shaggy
Mr Cougar Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Crikey I remember that Listerud too, that was a hell of a bass, that was on Bassworld though, no? Can't believe the quality of the basses you are shedding, I'd struggle to part with any of them. What's the conversion rate for the Kroner?
elros Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 Don't know what happened to the nice penguin - it should be back now though. What will I have left? I don't know, it kond of depends on what, if anything, gets sold. I still have an unfinished Warmoth project though (fretless 4), so I'll at least have that. Most likely I won't enjoy parting with these instruments, but we ought to keep in mind that they are just that: instruments. They can be replaced. And will be, if the need arises. And, as mentioned above, if I could choose only one to keep, it'd be the Conklin. What a fantastic instrument! Currency conversion rate as of today: 1 NOK = 0.101649 GBP So it's about ten to one. A custom Conklin 9 for £2500 GBP in other words. It's a steal, innit?
Soliloquy Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 What scale length and what string spacing is the Surine ?.
elros Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008
What scale length and what string spacing is the Surine ?.
String spacing is 18 mm - very comfortable IMO. Scale length is 35". (I actually thought it was 34" for some reason)
Soliloquy Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Thanks, it's a fine looking bass, very tempting !. Does anyone know if I'd have to pay import tax on bringing this into the UK ?.
elros Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 You know, it's quite possible that me and the GF will be visiting London sometime this fall. If we are, I'll post it here - someone might get free shipping that way.

But there are a lot of other trade agreements floating around. I don't know much about how that works. You'd better ask Shaggy - he has first-hand experience.
bassedsouth Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Nice Surine !!! are you considering trades ? Best of luck with the sales
elros Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008
Nice Surine !!! are you considering trades ? Best of luck with the sales
Thanks! Not really interested in trades at this time, no. Need money for wedding.
wolldav Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Hey, can you list the amps/etc what you have for sale and price? i can't seem to get onto that link that you've given.. i think work has blocked it..
Oversoul Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 hey elros, I didn't knew you had bought one of Al caldwell's basses! Good luck with the sales, that Bene is so gorgeous!
elros Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 What a nasty thing to do, blocking my website? That's just ... wrong. Anyway Here are the links for the other for-sale stuff, here on BassChat: Amp rig: Eden WT-800 and 2x AccuGroove Tri-112L for about £2000 Pedalboard with Roland GR-20 and V-Bass for about £900 And here are approximate prices in UKP for the above mentioned bass guitars. The Conklin: about £2500 The Benavente: about £2000 The Surine: about £1500 By the way, the Surine bass has a buyer already. It is still here for now, I've been told it'll be collected in the beginning of October.

elros Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Soliloquy you're not answering PMs. Are you there? If you are not there, there are others who won't wait to buy the Surine.
elros Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 Here's a bump relevant to London area residents: Me and my fiancee will be in London 6th to 9th of february. Which means I could probably bring one instrument over. Probably - I have never flown with Ryanair before and I don't know if they're musician friendly or not. Yes the basses are still for sale!
I don't think "Ry@nAir" and "Musician Friendly" have been used in the same sentance for some years. They are famous here for rock bottom prices but crappier than crap service and loosing luggage then screwing you to get it back. http://www.ryanaircampaign.org/ "No matter how carefully I read the terms and conditions and considered their implications, I never would have imagined that Ryanair would use their failure to put my baggage on two successive flights (24 hours apart) as a means of getting extra money from me once I was desperate. " I'd not risk it unless you have very good insurance and a very likely sale arranged.
elros Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 Ah the London trip was nice. We arrived at Liverpool Street Station just as the facebook crowd was at its thickest. That was sick. Anyway. Bump. And new high-res photos here: http://hallgeir.no/hmt/sale/outdoors/
