discreet
Really liked the "driftwood" look of this body after it had been sanded but as I say, for this particular project, much to the dismay of some of you guys (sorry) this ones gotta be black and maple.
No worries mate, it's your bass, obviously you can have it exactly how you want it! Would like to see pics of the finished item, though. Working on this bass has now got me looking out for a good project to work on.
Grangur
The bass in this vid is not unlike Donslow's other bass colour. This is possibly a bit more reliced though https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dF5xVnTo8gs
matski
Why not refinish it with a transparent black finish? I had my old Fender P57 done that way and it looks great: it's still black but you can still see the woodgrain underneath. HowieBass
The fact it has a maple neck, for me at least, argues against the reliced look - I can only imagine a rosewood board looking good with the 'driftwood' finish (and said so earlier). It'll be good to see pics of the finished article!
Hindsight would agree completely, for the most part, maple necks on relic or naked bodies, you have to be very careful to get it to look right (providing it's not all "natural" wear, look at some of Springsteen or Keith Richards' maple guitars.....) Must post a picture of my own telecaster here when I get a chance, just for opinion sake
