Stefanogregori
Hi all, I am considering chrome plating some brass bridge saddles. Is this expensive to do? Cheers
rmorris
Your best bet is to get some quotes and compare. There are quite a lot of plating companies around - mainly targeted at the car / boat restoration market but it's the same to plate brass anything. Would be interesting if you lety us know what you find. btw - are you plating them for aesthetic or technical reasons - or both ? Without knowing the bridge itself, it occurs to me that it might work out more cost effective to buy new chromed saddles ?
Stefanogregori
It is purely aesthetic. I am restoring a bass I had years ago and I lost one of the original saddles. I want keep the original bridge as it is strung through the body but not in a straight line so an unusual configuration. The bass is an epiphone from the 80s and the only matching bridge I could find was chrome with brass saddles. The brass saddles kind of limit my choices of body colour to an extent so I want to make them chrome.
