kedo Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Good luck with this. I have had one of these for about a year now and never go back to my acoustic bass. They have a really great sound, as close to an acoustic instrument as you can get without feedback and no need for a preamp. Easy on your back and fingers. I have tried a few of the better electric basses, and believe that this one wins hands down. Traditional neck and heel and a delight to play. I use it on stage and for recording. My DB is now gathering dust. This should be snapped up quickly. I never elaborated on the built-in pickup system as it sounds great. Maybe I should try a Shadow. All the best with selling it.
phil625sxc Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 Many thanks, they are great instruments but I've gone the other way and just bought an acoustic upright, so this one has to go sadly...
kedo Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Hi. The Yamaha is a really great bass. I think it is the best of the non traditional basses and hope you sell it soon. I hope you don't mind me asking, but what is the advantage of the full circle pickup over the on board device? I have a Yamaha and wondered if I could get an improvement.
phil625sxc Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 Hi Kedo No problem - I fitted the Full Circle as I wasn't impressed with the on board pickup and found it to be an improvement, quite a few other SLB owners have done the same although there was recently someone on here who tried it and thought the on board pick up was better, so I guess it depends what you're looking for sound-wise ! There should be some info and possibly sound clips if you do a search here or online, I think it gives a much more natural "acoustic" sound over the built in one. Thanks, Phil
kedo Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Thanks Phil. I'll look at the clips and maybe fit one. I've seen Dave Swift use a third party pickup, so he must think it's worth it. I like the look of the Full Circle as it doesn't need any adjustments to the wing slot in the bridge. I take it you disconnect the existing pickup by removing the battery. Thanks again for your help
phil625sxc Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 no need to disconnect the stock pickup as you use the jack socket on the FC, I've seen some people use them both and blend them...
Anjiekat Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Hi Phil I am an interested buyer for the package at 1850 if you still have it I live in Brighton but work in London. Where would I need to come to to pick it up? Best wishes, Angela Happy to discuss on the phone 07702 150434
phil625sxc Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Hi Angela It's in north London, I can have it in either N7 during the day, or N22 weekends & evening - are either of these ok for you to come and try it ? Regards, Phil
Anjiekat Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Hi There N7 daytime is best...but only if the location is close enough to a tube station and the entire rig is easily transportable on the tube. Its probably best to sort details on the phone (per previous post...text is best). If location is ok I could pick up Wednesday 16th (tomorrow) @17.30/18.00 or Monday (21st) morning @09.00/09.30 Thursday 20th @09.00/09.30 might also work. I expect you would prefer cash. Not sure if I can get enough cash together for wednesday or thursday but I can always do some cash and balance by Paypal transfer onsite or a card payment if you have a machine Angela
phil625sxc Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 Hi Angela, the N7 address is about 5 mins walk from a tube station, is this ok for you ? I don't have a card machine so it will have to be cash payment in full on pickup or transfer/PayPal in advance. Do you want to try it first ? Thanks, Phil
Beedster Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 You should make arrangements by PM guys, you're talking about carrying a lot of cash in public
phil625sxc Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 thanks, that's good advice. I'm going to call him today anyway to check everything out.
phil625sxc Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 still for sale and now with the photos edited so they're the correct way round !!
