stoker Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Hi all, I need some help. I'm restoring my '63 Verithin and I want to try and use as many original parts as I can to keep it authentic. Can anyone suggest anywhere to look? I have messaged Hofner themselves for advice and am monitoring EBay but any other help would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance! Quote
It would be useful to know if this is a bass or a 6-string restoration, and which parts are missing..? You may also wish to try the Hofner enthusiasts' forum, at Hofner Hounds...; the Admin there (Geoff...) is a real font of Verithin knowledge. Any photos, or a serial n° to share..? I have several Hofners, including both bass and 6-er; they are well worth keeping in good condition, despite the increasing rarity of parts. Good luck with the project; looking forward to following progress here, if you would. Meanwhile... Have a nice day Douglas Edited August 15, 2015 by Dad3353 Quote
MoonBassAlpha Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Don't junk the pickups if they don't appear to be working. My mate's Verithin had both pickups open circuit and were repaired very reasonably, much better than buying old replacements. I think you can source most bits on ebay ok. Good luck with it! ikay Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 This site has all sorts of Hofner vintage bits http://www.tourmanager.it/tourmanager/Hofner-Eko-Klira-Vintage.html I bought a plastic headstock logo from here and transaction was very straightforward Quote
stoker Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 In answer to the previous questions mine is a bass, serial number 266 and what I'm having trouble mostly with is finding period correct 'hydrant' style tuners. Quote
itsat34 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Just had my Senator rebuilt by Jacks instruments in Manchester. Like others, a brilliant job, he's pretty experienced in Hofners now so worth giving him a look. Quote
