goonieman
Hi all, I was looking at this... but i'm concerned: why is there no 'Made in San Luis, Obispo' on the back? Everything else looks legit... http://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/musicman-stingray-early-90-s/1128883708 Edited August 16, 2015 by goonieman
Chiliwailer
Because it's a Japanese EX series, you can tell by the logo, where the n meets the g Further info here.. http://www.musicmanbass.org/mycustompage0008.htm

Anyone played one of these? Seems a gamble in terms of the price... suddenly 650 GBP seems too high.
Chiliwailer
Easier when you know what you're looking for I haven't played one in years, I remember being quite a snob when I did play it though so I wouldn't trust my then opinion. Strangely, this one doesn't have mutes on the bridge though like the other EX's.

While it might be a bit more expensive at least you know if you go for a 2nd hand USA it's going to be easy to move on in the future if you decide to part with it. 40hz
An official Japanese built Stingray?! That has blown my mind!
mikeswals
Not exactly Japanese built. EBMM shipped the bulk parts to Japan for the distributor to assemble a bass model when need for their market...however I think the bodies were painted in Japan. I believe EBMM says they stopped the EX line around 2004?
