funky8884 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Hi everyone, I was wondering about what a ''Impedance Curve'' is ? Is it the Impedance of a speaker changing in relation to volume or frequencies ? or something else ? The reason I ask is that I am wondering if certain types of cab/speaker design are better suited to Tube/Valve amps ? thanks for any help Quote
Bill Fitzmaurice Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Impedance is not a constant figure, it changes with frequency, ranging on average (with an 8 ohm cab) from 5 to 50 ohms. A sealed cab has a single impedance peak, a ported cab two impedance peaks. By and large tubes prefer lower average impedance loads, which is what sealed generally provides. Quote
