Nicko
Does anyone use it, and does it get venues contactng you and/or punters through the door?
bertbass
In answer to your questions, used to, no and no.
mep
Yes. Probably a bit easier than setting up your own. We get lots of visitors to ours. Only a couple of venue contacts made. Probably doesn't do much for punters through doors.
mrtcat
Unlikely to bring gigs to you, unlikely to bring punters to gigs but does give a place to put demos / photos / videos if you haven't got a website or FB page. Essentially for me a total waste of time & £20.
FinnDave
We have been using it since February this year, it does bring a few more punters to some gigs (I have spoken to people at our gigs who have told me they saw the gig on Lemonrock) and we have had one or two bookings through it. Whether that is worth the charges is debatable (and I guess that's what we're debating!).
MacDaddy
For my band it has more than paid for itself. We have had venues contact us through LEMONROCK and it has been good for finding new venues to approach. YMMV.
ubit
Never heard of it! In no more than 50 words explain. Try to include as many referenced facts as possible.
spike
My band use it and we find it worthwhile. We've had the occasional punter come up to us at gigs to tell us they were looking on Lemonrock for a band to see that night, and we've also had calls from landlords wanting to book us. One landlord told us his approach was to look on Lemonrock for the bands that were busy and contact them on the basis that if they were busy they must be good. EliasMooseblaster
Just to add an extra dimension to this one: how many of you who find it useful are playing original material, and how many are working in covers/function bands?

Grangur
Lemonrock gets me to gigs as a punter. For it to really work for you as a band, you need to have recordings or videos of you on your page. Your name, a few dodgy pics and a paragraph of "self-praise" won't have me driving 20 miles for the experience. But then, like all things, "you only get summat out if you put summat in". This is a good page: http://www.lemonrock.com/360 I could go to that one. Another is http://www.lemonrock.com/defunkt - that's our Gary Mac; I've been to see them. I know a lot of the videos for defunkt are shot using a mobile, but it gives a general overview. Now this one... http://www.lemonrock.com/planetx Hmm... I reckon an early night would be preferable. Links to your own site can be good too, if you have recordings there too. (Edit; If your vids and recordings show you up as cr@p, then please ignore all of the above.) Edited August 21, 2015 by Grangur
Phil Starr
Well you'll see by my signature we use it. Run by a musician it pays for itself several times a year. The proviso is that it does depend on where you are. It's really strong in the West Country and around St Albans where it started. We get about 20-30 approaches a year out of Lemonrock. It has the ability to have a fairly decent band profile which runs for you, pics, recordings, videos reviews and a diary. You can join as a music fan for free and it will email/text music fans with a gig list once a week. Our gigs each get about 5-600 emails sent out without us needing to do anything unlike Facebook this is to people who may never have heard of our band not just those who are already fans. Any venue looking can see who is available and when, listen to the band, look at their set list and in areas like here that's how the more professional venues do their bookings. You can go onto their site and look at the site statistics where there is a map of Lemonrock Venues. If it's a dense area or on the fringes of a dense area then I'd sign up. The site is a little old school, not least because all of the links work properly. It's pretty strictly pub gigs though, a few other venues but it's the semi-pro pub scene it does well. What we need as musicians is one place where people looking for a gig can go to find out where they are which links into a booking system for venues. That's what Lemonrock is and its the biggest in the country with over 52,000 gigs a year. If Lemonrock closed down we'd have to reinvent it. If you are outside the Lemonrock area then you just have to work harder. Feel free to view our LR site on the link below

Telebass
Used Lemonrock.com for the whole life span of RRO (nearly 8 years), to great effect. Will certainly be using it again. Does seem to have greater effect in some areas, eg the far south west (the South West Gig Guide was a large piece of what became Lemonrock), and Hertfordshire. It's a great site if you live in the southwest and play covers We've had loads of gigs from it mainly through it telling you which venues host the most live music every week so you can chase them for gigs, it also works well as a gig diary and for hosting pics, mp 3's, videos and even allows you to email posters to the venues after sending you reminders, as said before its paid for itself over and over
