*ON HOLD* 1981 Yamaha BB2000 Fretless - £500
£550

Hey guys,

I am looking to potentially shift this incredible instrument due to a lack of funds. I'm sure most people that are familiar with early Yamahas will appreciate the fantastic quality and tone in these beasts!

I acquired this from a trade with a fellow BC'er and it is in pretty good nick considering its age! There are a few dings here and there, and the only issue is that one of the screws on the G string bridge saddle is a bit iffy, so I've had to fold a small piece of card to get the saddle even (I will try and get a decent photo to show what I mean!).

I am looking for [s]£600 £550 [/s][s]£525[/s] £500 for this beauty. I would be able to drop off the bass anywhere within the M25, and unfortunately I don't have the means to ship unless everything was organised by the buyer.

The only trade I would really be looking for is a Moog Sub/Little Phatty.

Shoot me a PM if you have any more questions!

Kieran

Oh,how I would love this! I own the fretted version, same colour, slightly younger though, a 1984. Best bass I've had, a keeper for life! Alas, the funds are non-existent for this beauty. GLWTS though ;-)

Thanks for the kind words! I would definitely be keeping a hold of this if it were fretted, unfortunately I can't justify keeping such a wonderful instrument when my intonation is so... questionable. ;)

It probably says a lot to say this at a time when I'm also selling a fretless bass (at twice the price), but this bass is probably one of the best fretless basses to come up for sale on here for quite a while, in fact I really can't quite understand why it's still here. I currently have five fretless basses (I know), and need to offload at least two of them, but I am SO tempted by this

Actually, you could always keep it and have it fretted? Extra £100 and you may have a lifetime keeper as per Bobby's post?

That would be a shame, the fretless version is comparatively rare.

Take your point mate, but it's really down to what makes it work for the owner I guess. I'd keep it fretless for sure. Perhaps rather than suggest he fret it I should have suggested he spends a bit of time learning to play it - there's nothing you can do on a fretted that you can't do on a fretless after all :)

Tough one Chris but I'd be inclined to leave it fretless. I came across SO many altered versions of the fretted in the long search for mine. Always wanted a stock model, unaltered and it was so disappointing seeing so many modified versions of the bass. It's lovely to see this rare beast in its factory state.

That's just me though, its not my decision of course. Haven't stopped looking at this since its been up, would love to have "the set," so to speak; fretted and fretless. Alas, the funds are non existent. Mrs K would bin bag me in an instant if I dared to buy this!!!
