iconic
Hi guys, OK this week I'm into a bit of Burt Bacharach and been trying to noodle along to some his tunes....wow this guy writes some tough tunes, dissonent jazzy chords, varing tempo's, unusual chord changes, great stuff. So onto South American Getway, you may of heard this in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I've found the sheet music and see something I've not seen before....Bm 7-5 underscore F....is the same as a slash chord when I see a G/B where the bass would play the B for example? thanks guys https://youtu.be/kcLCigVYnOU
ras52
Yep, the "dots" show it's a B half-diminished 7th with the F in the bass. Enjoy!
Bilbo
Slash chords are generally (but not always) simple the first chord with a defined choice of 'root'. C/E is a C chord with the third in the bass Cm7/Eb is a Cm chord with the flattened third in the bass C/G is a C chord with a fifth in the bass C/Bb has a flattened seventh in the bass and so on. As Ras says, in this case, the Bm7b5 chord is played with the b5 in the bass.
