lawetlatla Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) (Sorry, I'm not sure where to post this so I"m posting here - if there's a better place could you let me know please?) Does anyone know any cool bass-only (or with minimal backing, i.e. just percussion or one other instrument) jazz or classical pieces? I go back to school in less than a week & I have to perform a solo piece for my pre U music class, so because it's a classical based course, I wanted to do something classical or jazzy (as I consider myself to mainly be a jazzer/funker). Also because I have to learn it by Thursday, something "easier" would be preferred, i.e. no ridiculous tempos or amount of chords haha Thanks for any suggestions! lawetlatla Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 Sorry, I forgot to mention it being for bass guitar! I just realised I didn't make it clear enough! Quote
alyctes Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) Bach cello pieces. Try Suite no.3 in Cmaj. I guess there is a chance of offending purists. Edited August 29, 2015 by alyctes Quote
ambient Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Bach, as already suggested one of the cello pieces, or one of his inventions ? Quote
Bilbo Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Try my piece 'Calypso Zoom' on my Soundcloud page (below). It's simple but fun. Quote

dudewheresmybass Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Another mention for the Bach material. There are a couple of Bach for bass books available on Amazon. Great music and will give you some great transferable ideas Quote
TrevorR Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Look! Another recommendation for Bach... A chum of mine on his Wal bass... A nocturne or prelude should fit the bill nicely. As some have said the are resources out here you can check out. http://youtu.be/OVAqe6-2LyQ Edited August 31, 2015 by TrevorR Quote
