magee Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 I'm reminded by Mr Foxen, whom I got this from, that the amp was built by Subthumper who is also a BCer and that there are some inside photos here: https://ampstack.wordpress.com/2014/07/12/seeger-bassman-clone-handbuilt-in-bristol-uk/
magee Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Bump for reasonably priced warm, valvey tone.
Subthumper Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Hey I made that. Nice to see its still going. First amp I built. Happy to answer any questions about it.
magee Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 It sounds great, Subthumper, good first job.
Subthumper Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Thank you, always nice to hear others opinions. I built it as a bit of an experiment using the transformers and chassis from a peavey deuce guitar amp and the supplied kit parts from Torres of the thunder bass. It's pretty much a bassman with the addition of the mid shift control. In fact the pre amp is exactly the same as the mesa bass 400. I ended up doing another amp, a copy of a Hiwatt DR201, which blew away everything I've ever owned amp wise so the 120 had to go. Glad you've enjoyed it. Cheers Just
magee Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 It is very solid Amo. I don't have any individual sound clips, but you can hear it in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN_8v2zTYD4 It's not ideal (mobile phone footage from a pub), but it might be helpful. If there's anything particular you'd like me to record then I could - though again it would just be on a phone, I don't have a home recording set up any more, sadly.
Samashton12 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Got any dimensions man? I've got a trace 1x15 I wanna know if it would fit.
magee Posted March 28, 2016 Author Posted March 28, 2016 Just PM-d Sam, thanks. For anyone else interested it's 66x25x24cm and 19kg.
magee Posted April 15, 2016 Author Posted April 15, 2016 Big price drop for this - who wants cheap all-valve sound?
JohnR Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Off topic but I have just listened to a few of your recordings and love the band and the playing. I live in Glasgow and will make a point of seeing you live.
magee Posted June 2, 2016 Author Posted June 2, 2016 Great, thanks JohnR - make sure you come up and introduce yourself. I think our next outing is The Scotia on 19 June at 6pm, then Bar Gumbo on Byres Rd on 25 June. Do introduce yourself, it would be great to say hello.
