timmo Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) I have some money burning in my bank so i was wanting a Jazz bass, as i don`t own one. I can`t make up my mind between a http://www.thomann.d...s_rw_3ts_lh.htm or a http://www.bassdirec...H4_LH_3TSB.html , I didn`t really want to go over a grand, but so many people go on about Fenders, i just wonder if it would be worth going over the grand for one. Anyone got any thoughts on it. I guess the Fender will sell easier, and not lose a lot of the value compared to the Clover, but not too worried as i never sell anything i own. Or perhaps other suggestions in that price bracket. I have tried the Clover and liked the neck, but chiose the Avenger instead. I knew nothing about basses when i bought it, but just liked the name and style of the Avenger. Edited September 3, 2015 by timmo Quote
Bonin-in-the boneyard Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 How about a Sandberg thomann are selling some lefty's... Quote
timmo Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 The Sandberg does look nice. http://www.thomann.d...eme_cr_left.htm Looking at it, it looks very similar to the Clover. I know Jazz basses mostly follow the same Fender style, but it almost looks like they are from the same factory. Quote
Subbeh Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) I've had the lefty Sandberg, TM4 with the MM style pickup at the bridge for a couple of months now. I'm still thrilled with it, looks lovely and has a stained finish that really lets the wood grain show, build quality is as good as any of the Fender or Musicman basses I've owned and the sound is lovely. The solo'd jazz pickup at the neck sounds like a classic jazz, the MM style bridge pup really gives it some balls and can be run in single coil mode for a more bitey jazz tone. Sounds just as good in passive mode where the treble control works as a traditional tone control. Really is a versatile well built bass. Maruszczyk are probably worth a look as well, you could probably spec your own for a reasonable price and they look and sounds great. They have a black jazz in lefty at the moment, maple with blocks, a really looker and just under 800 euros. ProfFrink Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 What are you looking for in a jazz bass? The Fenders are great-sounding and (obviously) classics, but I've never been able to go past the ergonomics, so now actually looking for something that will sound similar but have better ergonomics... timmo Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 The one thing that stops me getting the Clover, is i don`t like sunburst Quote
pineweasel Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 What about the Sire Marcus Miller V7? Everyone seems to rave about them. Lefties available to order from Thomann, due in October. Quote
whynot Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 A lovely Fender US Deluxe on Ebay a couple of days back. Quote
TheKcrimsonKing Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I'd go for the Clover becuase it's active and has an extra fret. Quote
