waynepunkdude
I don't even use the volume control...I should just have an on/off switch. Steve
Bought a switch this morning and I have taken the pots out I'll let you know how it works.

nick
All the time on my P-Bass with flats, usually 1/2 to 3/4 way up, very occaisionally on full.
lineboss58
Yes i use the tone and volume controls on all my basses, i set the amp up as flat and as loud as i can then conrtol everything from the guitar.
SteveK
Bought a switch this morning and I have taken the pots out I'll let you know how it works.
Holey scratchplate, Batman! Many years ago (when I had more time) I did consider building my own bass, with the (passive) pick-ups wired to a tilt-switch (as suggested in a custom guitar book) and then to the jack socket...didn't take me long to realise that perhaps that would be a recipe for disaster. skankdelvar
25% off for blues, full up for all else. Sometimes use vol pot (only goes up).
Doc B
I use the passive tone control on both my basses a lot, although I tend to use the volume knobs (both are single tone, 2 volume set ups) to vary my tone more. I actually find it easier to get a wide range of tones out of 2 pickup passive basses than with active ones - which is why I am now passive all the way. Happy Jack
Bremen - you have the Elvis Dambusters clock plate of Tutenkamen as your avatar. Do you really have one or is it just a pic. Brilliant.
Went looking for this, and found: http://www.juppspace.com/melissa juppjewellerygallary WTF is this all about? mr pablo
Never dimmed the tone controls on my passive basses so alwyas had them on full, so I decided to take it out of my Pbass and cover the hole in the scratchplate, one less thing that can go wrong if you ask me
Kev
i couldnt have a bass that didnt have extensive tone control, as i change quite alot probably why i hate passives

You have one sound in your bass that you like... use it and then use it lots more
WarPig
I rarely adjust the tone on my passive basses, all are set to slight treble. For my ATK ive boosted the bass and treble, kept the mid in the erm mid
