Count Bassy Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 So actually he was right. You were out of tune, albeit intentionally.
mrtcat Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Yep must admit that if I'd booked a band and they weren't even in tune I'd be less than happy and have to say something.
kevvo66 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 But he doesn't really like anyone apart from some local punk type bands
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Nothing wrong with punk type bands;)
kevvo66 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Oh I know my favorite band is the clash dont think our guitarist would play tommy gun or complete control!

fretmeister Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Well this thread was interesting. I've been playing for 27 years and I've never heard of being intentionally out of tune. I've heard of selecting individual notes that technically clash (usually by some prog band) and if heard of using microtones in music from different countries. But having the entire instrument out on purpose? I remain unconvinced and I can see why a listener would find it annoying. It would make my teeth itch.
crez5150 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 The Stones have been doing it live for decades
Muppet Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Maybe get an independent local bass player who you trust to review the recording and you can go through it together and identify the pros and cons of this tuning. It might have worked, who knows...
