Perhaps won't be much of a diary as I'm not aware that Adrian supplies anything with regards to updates/pictures etc, would perhaps be a bit much to ask for what is only a 10 week build :).
But hey, I'm excited, so here's the spec:

Body:

-Alder (chambered)
-Shoreline Gold
-Black 3-ply scratchplate
-Chrome hardware
-Passive, Vol/Vol/Tone
-P & JJ Haussel pickups
-JJ volume on push/pull pot. In 'down'/normal position in Series Humbucking setting, in 'up' position JJ in single coil mode

Neck:

-33" scale
-Standard Jake dimensions
-Rock maple neck
-Rosewood fingerboard (as dark as possible specified)
-Pearl dot inlays
-Matching Shoreline Gold headstock
-Only 'M' logo (no lettering)
-Hipshot Ultralite 1/2" tuners

Apparently, because of the chambering, the bass should weigh in around the 7.5lb mark, very similar to WoTs.
Cannot wait, Adrian has been amazing to deal with, very helpful and patient, with very fast replies, often on a weekend.

Cheers
Si

I'm in.
That's going to be a very cool bass mate.
I wasn't aware that Adrian did 33" basses either, thought he only did the usual 30", 32", 34" and 35".
10 weeks is not a long time, but it'll still feel like forever...

I asked Adrian quite a while ago about 33" and he simply said it was absolutely fine to do and no extra cost, very cool :). This was essentially the detail that caused me to order, a 33", custom colour, versatile P-bass for under a grand, perfect :)
I don't mind the wording on the logo, but wanted to keep it the headstock minimalist.

This also means that once my two bitsa basses sell, I'll be down to my Fodera, my '71 Precision, my medium scale Fender Jazz and the Maruszczyk when it arrives, a solid little armoury!

Hey Si,

She sounds like a real beauty and cant' wait to see the updates.

It was a busy day for Adrian today as my order went it today also!!!!!!! :D

Very similar to yours with the only difference being:

Colour Finish (I went for Vintage White)
Scratchplate (Tort)
Pickups - Same set up and configuration but I went for Delano's
Standard Scale

10 weeks............... tick, tock, tick, tock!! ;)

Nice update - sounds like you'll get your Jake a little ahead of me!!
I hope he starts work soon so I don't end up modifying the spec (Joke!)

Does a single inch make quite a difference to the playability?
Absolutely! It shouldn't, but it does, but it's not such a massive difference that regular basses feel alien.

Just curious: what's the reasoning behind the 33" scale? Does a single inch make quite a difference to the playability?

I have virtually zero experience playing anything other than 34"...

For me it was simply the opportunity to have a Precision bass (essentially) that felt very similar to my Fodera with regards to the neck length, so pulling them together as a pair that I can go between very smoothly.
I guess the example here would be the Scott Devine Jazz & his signature 5 string, different basses, but share some spec to make them a smooth transition.

You're right, the differences sound/playability between 34" & 33" are negligible (although I actually find 32" a tiny bit too short"), but the fretting hand is obviously working slightly less, there's a small reduction in weight, so in my mind.....as a free option....I might as well :)

Sounds like a cracking little build and I look forward to results! My take on a medium scale P will materialise via ACG towers early next year but will be markedly different (obv as it's an ACG haha!)

Gotta say thought these Maruszcyks are very intriguing for the classic designs. Maybe next year......
