Nicko
Sorry - yet another set list thread. We are ramping up the effort on new songs basically cos the LL at our last gig told us we were great but the set is too short (and he's right!). We mostly play 90s and 00s indie stuff with a few older and a few newer numbers thrown in. Ideally I'd like to get to a position where we can add 3 or 4 new songs a week. We already play a lot of the "groundhog day" setlist so I'm looking for suggestions for songs that are a) easy to learn and a bit off piste When we get enough songs together I think the plan is we can drop some of the cheese and spend some time working on more complex songs. To give an idea of where I'm coming from this weeks songs to learn are: Scar Tissue - RHCP Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm version How you remind me - Nickleback I suspect and hope Smooth Criminal will only take a week cos the lines are straightforward (if a bit fast) and structure is fairly easy. Scar Tissue is something a couple of us have played before so should be an easy win. Songs like All the Small Things and Place your Hands were an absolute doddle for the band to learn and go down really well. Rocks is a set filler (I f***** hate it) but it was basically giggable after a couple of plays through. Little Monster has taken 3 weeks which is fine, but I think that's two easy songs we didn't get to learn and put in the set list - I hope you see where I'm coming from here.. TimR
You'll need a few Blur and Oasis tunes.
KevB
How about 'Lock All The Doors' from latest Noel Gallagher album? He originally wrote it as an Oasis song in 1991 but it didn't end up on an album. Our singer wants our band to do it but the guitarist seems reluctant as its not well known enough
FuNkShUi
Gold on The Ceiling by the Black Keys is really easy. Good tune too. Cocaine blues by Johnny Cash is simple and a winner too
Nicko
You'll need a few Blur and Oasis tunes.
Yep, I think Song 2 really should be on there, especially as we're playing the Royal Blood stuff in drop D.
Sammers
How about "The Whole Worlds Watching" by The Walking Papers (Duff McKagan's project)? Definitely off-piste and super simple! bonzodog
How about some of the old punk / new wave stuff. Any Ramones song and Sex Pistols Pretty Vacant go down well in pubs and are very easy to learn
Annoying Twit
If Oasis is covered, I do like the Beady Eye song "Four Letter Word", would it fit? Agree with the Ramones suggestion, Sheena is a Punk Rocker is outside of your genre but would be fun? 90s/00s? Something from Bob Mould's Sugar, such as "Changes"? Maude
And you will can usually change the 'gay bar' lyric for the name of the pub your playing in. Girl, I wanna take you to the Bulls Head, etc.

Roland Rock
Happy Hour by the Housemartins would fit in nicely with that set: http://youtu.be/7_TMUJIWwyI

Slipperydick
Throw in some fun stuff at the end of the set. Audience participation always goes down well. Wooly Bully, Gt Balls of fire. If you think rock n roll is uncool, try some Glam Rock stuff, Blockbuster or something like that.
neilp
I think Dr Feelgood would fit - not many bands covering them that I've heard. Roxette maybe? The song, not the band lol

Phil Starr
Love your set list, I used to play it pretty much lol. Really miss Dirty Pretty Things, fun bass line compared to the dinosaur rock stuff I'm playing now. We did Gold On The Ceiling too, Jimmy Eat World How about Basket Case American Idiot Local Boy In The Photograph In The Morning; Razorlight Golden Touch Buck Rogers Monster; The Automatic Bohemian Like You Don't Look Back Into The Sun Can't Stand Me Now London Calling (old punk era songs go well with the up tempo stuff you are doing)
M@23
Seven Nation Army. I don't even like the song, but do quite enjoy playing it. Punters love it, plus it is dead easy to play.
