Even though the song makes me feel queezy. Quote
Nicko Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Still not sure if the Scouting for Girls first album is supposed to be a serious music projecty or a novelty album. Either way theres some cracking stuff on it. Surely any song with "You put the meaning in whakaday" counts as novelty. Quote

tedmanzie Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 i need a new genre - that includes Trio Da Da Da / Flying Lizards / Telstar but excludes The Birdie Song / Cum On Squeeze Me Boils / Etc ! 'Novelty' is too broad! (too awful!!) Quote

Beer of the Bass Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 No mention of Ivor Cutler yet? Some of his songs definitely tend towards the novelty category, but there's a bit more going on than that. I think my favourite album is Ludo, for its slightly fuller sound with bass and drums. The songs are either daft like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4NRTks2M50 Or whimsical but beautiful like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk7IiSdCkEw Quote
