fretmeister Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 http://stores.soundislandmusic.com/phil-jones-bass-d-400/ His Facebook feed is going on about power section welly and having the most balls of the D amps. We shall see! Quote
fretmeister Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 PJB has just told me there is NO FAN! Now I'm excited! Quote
Musashimonkey Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Wow, I'll be following this very closely. There may well be a GK MB800 in the classifieds when this comes out! 😀 Quote
Naetharu Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Out of interest, what's the deal with the mids on the EQ here - odd that it's only for cutting them? Quote
Good spot. I guess if you play with the overall volume and boost and cut bass and treble you should be able to get everything you would want... Quote
JTUK Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I'd be very surprised if PJB didn't join the 'market'.. Quote

Owen Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 My interest is elsewhere, but the gift wrapping option nearly swung me. Quote
ambient Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I have one of his tiny combos, it's a pretty amazing amp. I saw the new head on Facebook the other day, it does look interesting, I'll be in the market for a larger amp in a few weeks or so for a function band that I've joined. I was thinking of one of his bigger combos, but maybe a head and one of his cabs instead ? Quote
The mid control on the Demeter is passive, i.e. cut only. I generally run it at 3 o'clock, which should equate to a slight cut but sounds right to me. I expect it has a lot to do with what the treble and bass controls are getting up to at the same time. Quote
Happy Jack Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I'm a big fan of PJB kit, and of Class D heads. Have to say that, other than a styling exercise, this doesn't do much for me. My first Class D was the Eden WTX350, maybe eight years ago, and that looks (on paper) to be a match for this PJB unit. Not sure why this very expensive head would be preferred to a GK or Markbass or etc. etc. etc. Quote
Musashimonkey Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Yeah, I see what you mean, not exactly ground breaking. Hopefully the tone will make up for it! Quote

First time out with the D and I got lots of nice comments which was nice..altho I think fine tweaking is still in order. Basically the amp is classy so things can only get 'better', IMO. Quote
MOSCOWBASS Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Could that be an old photo? Phil's latest pics of that amp show low and high mid controls. Quote

Linus27 Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Will be interested in testing this out along with a compact C4 to replace my Reidmar and Classic 112. Quote

I was thrilled when I got something lighter. But it was never a like for like replacement. Talk about putting pressure on your own product! Quote
wateroftyne Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I wonder if the power section is one of the usual ICE modules everyone else uses at the moment..? Quote
No lust in Jazz Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I'm a recent convert to PJB stuff - I think that their gear and importantly, the sound from it is excellent. Quote
Muzz Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I've only just seen this one, and I'm not in the market for the head, but I particularly liked the claim "This amp has more tone...than any other bass amp in its class."
