DarkHeart
As a CNC machinist of 30 years in wood and metal, lathes, machining centres and routers ive got to say your workmanship is absolutely first class. Every build you do is simply stunning.
blablas
Thanks. Been making things all my life - okay, in the beginning more breaking than making, but over the last 35 years I've been doing it for a living, I'm schooled as a metal machinist and engineer. JimBobTTD
I was in Leiden a while back and walked past what looked like a large workshop in the basement of the hospital. They should let you loose there!
blablas
Those are colleagues of mine at a different university faculty. I work in a even better equipped workshop about 2 kilometers removed from this one. Edited September 17, 2016 by blablas
JimBobTTD
Leuk...I was on my way to the Hogeschool there. I've been to Leiden a few times now; it's a nice place. The people are very friendly.
blablas
Finally I did something again on these builds, amazing how low the urge is to do something on them. Knobs for the bass VI variant, put on two coats of Danish oil, they still need to be cut to the proper height. Norris
Have you cut down those knobs yet?
blablas
Afraid not. Somehow I can't bring up the energy to start building again at the moment. Working on several builds in my head but unfortunately not with my hands.
blablas
Added all my images again - Thanks Photof*cket! And...... Sawdust!!! Finally did something on the bass version, re-sawed the beam to something more manageable. Next up: Level the sides that will be glued together and thin down these two pieces of wood. (Lets wait and see when the urge comes up ) For the time being I'm just going to start on the bass version, the guitar client will become enthusiastic once he sees something happening. Andyjr1515
Excelent to see the sawdust, blablas We're all still here, waiting patiently
blablas
Leveled the sides, sawed to the right thickness and roughly in shape. I think this will become the (righty) guitar version, the grain looks lovely. Still more than enough oversized. Will do the same tomorrow/day after tomorrow on the other body.
blablas
The other body. Front. Back. and together.

blablas
A bit thick though.
blablas
Gluing the body halves. And both body's are done. Edited August 11, 2017 by blablas
blablas
Filling the tiny burl holes with CA glue before I sand the body level. There are two spots and they go right through the body.
blablas
Sanded flat the front- and backside. Frontsides. Backsides. Wetted down the fronts with some water to let the grain pop to roughly show how they will look after oiling and also to let the wood fibers swell a little so the final sanding will be even smoother. blablas
Sawed The bass body in to shape. The guitar will follow later, first need to do some tweaks to the design.
Andyjr1515
One of the pleasing things of doing my own builds is that i am getting better at envisioning the end result of other builders projects. These two are going to be jaw-droppingly good Edited August 17, 2017 by Andyjr1515
